MLB: ***2024 Minnesota Twins***

Lewis in the OF is just fine, but you have Buxton, Kepler and Larnach and Kiriloff if they get healthy. 3B makes sense in that it would be a bigger upgrade right now.

It would be a shame if Lewis is back in the minors more than 1-2 weeks, though.
Somebody will get hurt and he’ll be back

Get that Larnach and Kirilloff will be coming back, but I was referring to this week. Send Miranda or Gordon down now, and the other when Kirilloff comes back.

The might be better off long term with him getting some 3B reps in a lower pressure environment so he can take over for Urshela.

Royce is an elite athlete who can handle the pressure. I'd rather have him on the team at LF vs. Gordon. He can also relieve Urshela, Correa, and Buxton as he finds ways to help the club win now.
Telling Lewis that Miranda and Gordon are more valuable to the team now is a joke.

Lewis is a big boy. He knows that's not what they are telling him even if you don't.

Maybe I am in the minority but things are going really well for Royce. I would rather not monkey with him and make him play/learn a new or rarely played position at the highest level. He will be back and it won't be long and if the current trajectory holds, he will be on the postseason roster as well.

Of course the FO is not telling Royce that.
But he's also smart enough to know that the Twins have a better chance of winning now with him on the club. He is a big boy and knows he can out play Gordon, Miranda or Celestino.
The Twins playing the long game here is misguided and stupid.

We're talking about a club that put Nick Gordon in CF in Yankee Stadium. Gordon had never played one inning in the OF at any level prior.
But Royce isn't able to do it even with his OF experience in the minors?

And I would wager that keeping him up in order to win 1 or 2 extra games in the next 2 weeks is not worth risking him having a few errors at the major league level and ruin his confidence the rest of the year, or getting him so stressed out at a new position that his hitting suffers. And before you say he is professional and a position change won't affect him mentally, remember that you are saying that sending him to the minors for a is going to affect him mentally so you must think he has a pretty fragile psyche.

I am not saying I am right and you are wrong, though. If they had sent Miranda down instead, I would have been fine with that. I am just saying it is not as cut and dry as you make it out to be.

I honestly can see both sides. I land on the side with being ok sending him down because 1. he's not going to play his natural position 2. he just came back from blowing out his knee and let's not push him physically outside of his norm 3. he hasn't played or has played very little of either of the other positions thus reps not at the highest level make sense 4. having him transition to 1B makes no sense because they have multiple people there especially when larnach comes back which is very soon 6. someone will get hurt and make this all pointless conjecture because the decision will be made for them and 7. It's May, do this right and don't screw with him, get him in the best possible position to mash in September/October.

Agree with point #4.

And there it is

What do you this Urshela is worth on the trading block? A decent lefty middle reliever?
As long as the Twins club doctor is not doing the medical evaluation, take who ever you can get.
The Twins also have a couple of OF they can throw in to sweeten the deal.

Like who? Celestino? I don’t see them moving their youth
