***2023 PGA Tour Thread***

Funny how they’re all radio silent on social media - almost as if all the **** they talked the last several years has come back to bite them in the ass.
What an idiotic statement. There are players who made a choice not to ally themselves with the Saudi PIF, likely many of them for legitimate reasons, turned down huge $$ for that decision, and now they’ve been backstabbed by their own commissioner. It would take me a while to figure out how to respond to that.

Do you have anything to say? Do you want to have a conversation about this or not? Or do you just want to take dumb jabs at me?
You have been the most profound poster against LIV on this board - so of course we were waiting to hear your opinion today.

I’m 100% done with professional golf. As a lifelong fan, the integrity of the game has just gotten worse and worse over time, consorting with awful people just to have bigger and bigger corporate sponsorships, culminating with the LIV blood money split. Now, the PGA Tour makes the most hypocritical move in the history of the game and throws all their players under the bus, just for money. Yet another institution seemingly content with abandoning any sort of values for $$. It’s disgusting. Hoping there are more people who feel the same as the only thing that will hurt this trend is viewership and attendance declining, but I really doubt that will be the case (unfortunately).

Life goes on, I will find other ways to spend my time, but it is sad as following the game has been a big part of my life and is something I’ve been able to share with my dad.
You don't use a single product that has Saudi money affiliated with it?

This seems to me like a tantrum that will be forgotten in a couple of weeks.

Honestly the Saudi thing wasn't ever what bothered me. As I mentioned before, it was the indignation from guys like Phil and Bryson that irked me. Just an outright refusal to acknowledge the reason they left was for the money. And I imagine that indignation is only going to get more unbearable now.

What I don't understand from the PGA perspective is none of their golfers are under any type of contractual agreement with them so blindsiding them and pissing them off seems like a pretty terrible idea.

I know if I were billionaire investor I'd be talking to the top PGA guys right now about starting a new league.

Now, money has a way of calming hurt feelings so if the tour handed out a boatload of money at the top 30 or so players in the league that likely makes the **** sandwich go down a bit easier.

Oh, they're going to get their big ol' Saudi checks too. Rory and the boys are going to be taken care of.

Nope - what was idiotic was all the ****-talking the PGA golfers did the last several years, never once considering one day those same people might be the ones paying their paychecks.

I gave it.

I’ll side with the likes of Jack, Tiger, Rory, Speith, Thomas, etc all day long over the likes of Greg Norman, Phil, DeChambeau, and Koepka.

It’s pretty easy to tell who was on the right side of this issue.

PGA had to be hiding something…. I don’t see any other reason why they should have caved here. Stupid.

You didn’t ask me, but I’m about as anti-Saudi as it gets. Not taking this to the cave, but America is married to KSA in so many ways. They are huge customers in US weapons and defense systems. Our dollar is tied to their oil. Their oil is in my car. Little ol’ me can’t do anything to change it, but I can dislike it.

Maybe I’m naive and living in a fantasy world, but I felt like the PGA was at least a pillar of tradition and values that transcended the other BS. It seemed like PGA leadership was taking a moral stand against the Saudis, something very few people in power in the US ever have the balls to do. But $$$ talks, just like in everything else.

I love golf. I don’t love this. And I’ll watch because what can I do to change it? Nothing.

How old are you?? Younger I assume… but you’ll find out how the real world works at some point in life and you’ll realize everything comes down to money. EVERYTHING.

Lol how is that idiotic? Why would they reasonably consider that their paychecks might be coming from someone who their employer was very, very publicly against?
