2023 CyHawk

So, which of the teams on EIU's schedule that played poorly just had a bad day and is better than any of the five schools I mentioned not counting Penn State or Wisconsin?

This myth that EIU improves has less to do with the team getting better, and more to do with the fact that their last five games year in and year out are against teams that are horrible. You can pile up a lot of wins playing the likes of NW, Illinois, Indiania, Purdue, Nebraska, Minnesota and then cross over games with Maryland and Rutgers, while missing Ohio State and Michigan. It's one reason that EIU SOS is so bad every year, and only gets an upgrade when the bowl game is factored in.

The 'Iowa gets better' thing was from like twenty years ago. Either way it doesn't mean they automatically are some juggernaut by November.

Didn't they get beat by Nebraska last year?

TCU was questionable on here weeks ago by many with so much turnover.

The verdict is still out on WI. They were pretty iffy Saturday and will likely be up and down all season.
Agree. The verdict is still out 90% of teams in college football. That’s my point.

Does anyone have a link for the Iowa St. and UNI highlights? Can't find anything on Youtube.

Are Iowa fans concerned at all about McNamara's health? Feels like they're burying their head in the sand. He stumbled in the exact same way as when he injured the quad. He took multiple sacks when it was clear he couldn't scramble. He threw fading away instead of rolling. I would not be surprised to see him out of the game at some point next week. He does have a pretty good arm. He's accurate on the short stuff and will at least give his WR a chance down the field, but he's vulnerable, and I don't see Iowa fans really talking about it.

Iowa's home schedule for Iowa season ticket buyers....

Utah State
Western Michigan
Michigan State
Purdue
Minnesota
Rutgers
Illinois

Ouch! Hope they all got a big discount this year. No Ohio St, no Michigan, no Penn State, no Wisconsin.

I think Iowa fans have acknowledged that Cade won't be healthy the entire year. They are just hoping he is healthy enough to still be capable of playing.

Yeah he's not nearly as mobile as he normally would be, that's concerning. Love his arm and accuracy though, guy throws darts. Our guys need to make catches.

Thanks! Seemed like a KF style of win. Downing Punta at the one, good punt returns, intercepting passes, long FGs and QB sneaks. Felt like I was watching Iowa highlights.

Hard to tell too much from the first game, especially since we went super bland in the second half, but I think most are encouraged by the differences on offense.

Solid TE play and easy out routes, and I don’t recall Rocco making many bad decisions like Dekkers did so many times. Far less window dressing before the snap too; they just line up and run the play.

ISU is having to play with their backup QB all year... so there's that.

Also their backup RB, LT, TE, and Nose Guard. And with about half the budget of Iowa too. This really should be a blowout win for Iowa by all accounts.

Coin flip game. I just hope it’s entertaining and not like last year.

I loved last year's game myself. I'd take a repeat of that this Saturday. We dominated Iowa in the trenches last year for the most part. If not for all our self inflicted stupid mistakes... we win that thing comfortably.
