2023 CyHawk

Hawks claimed field goals don’t count when Shaggy beat them with five. Then under the Brain offense, when they relied on them and defense to put points on the board, field goals were all the rage.

My fav excuse will always be that we play the game too early for their improvement to kick in , Ferentz teams improve each week. Then in 2001 it actually got moved to last game and they still lost to ISU.

Reality was more likely that Big Ten schedules are always loaded with easy wins. Same now as it was 20 years ago, such a soft middle and bottom. Weaker SOS deluding their fans into a sense of imaginary improvement. Same thing happened just last year actually, we were #9 SOS.

Probably looking at a 20-17 type of game. Won't be pretty

It can still be a good well played game with that type of score.

Last year's was one of the uglier college football games I can recall in recent memory though.

I don't recall hearing Iowa fans wanting to move it in years when Iowa dominated the game.

Both teams have a bunch of question marks for sure. Going to be another el assico if I had to guess. 13-10 game and have no idea who will win.

That was the score in Mpls last year and what I expect these days in Gopher or Cyclone games versus Iowa. All three teams are built around defense and uber conservative running offenses and win or lose by one score. Assuming one team does not make a ton of mistakes and turn it over it should be a one score game again. We can't have nine penalties again and hope to win, can't give away downs like that.

Didn’t see a snap of the Iowa game yesterday, how did Jesus Christ look?

Who does this refer to?

I saw a bit of it. They looked like Iowa. Solid at RB and find a TE here and there while the defense doesn't give up explosive plays.

Probably talking about transfer qb who is improved version of Peyton Manning.

If our special teams play is on par with yesterday, we don't turn it over, our defense is it's usual bad ass self, and with even a C+ offense performance the game shouldn't be a stressful one. Actually quiet entertaining!

Surprised they went with the hook over a field goal. Maybe I'm a homer but that's real enticing to take the Clones.

Game with 2 really good defenses with both teams coming off historically poor offensive performance the game is projected to be a grind out low scoring affair. But then maybe that's what they want...
Historically poor offensive performance? Did you watch the game yesterday? All of last year was a historically poor offensive performance, but yesterday was fine.

For any P-5 (P-4 or do we wait until next year?) team has to do is avoid turnovers. Don't lose the turnover battle and ISU wins. Also don't let them block a punt.

Agreed.

Both offenses are better than last year. How much better is unknown.

Not sure this Iowa's defense is as good as last year.

ISU's defense? This squad could be really special. If there is any potential for historic in this game it this defense.

Yes last year was historically poor for both teams.
