2023-24 ISU WBB Season Thread

That is true, but the freshmen all stepped in and had major roles. We do have experience on this team in upper classmen…they just haven’t played together. That’s why I qualified my statement with Ryan getting them to gel. Going to be fun to watch.
I think I'm looking forward to this season more than any in recent memory, mostly because of the unknown, but a lot of the anticipation is due to those 5 freshmen, but more specifically, the "big" three. If reports are true from the European tour, four of those freshmen led the team in scoring during at least one win. What's even more encouraging is that three presumed starters, Ryan, Natabou and Belanger, didn't even play on the tour,

Her absence in any of the team social media posting has had me questioning how bad her injury must be and what’s going on?

From “Ride or die” to gone into hiding. Hope she’s ok.
I, too, have noticed this although I can't see tweets because I don't have a Twitter account.

Who is the "wise beast" with the middle name Geofrette?

I don't know if this local Sacramento KCRA 3 TV bit was posted here but it's fun to see.

If the three freshmen were the main play makers on the Euro Tour, and players like Natabou mesh into the fold, it would seem this team has more potential than an also-ran. Issy has a mid-70s Free Throw percentage so not good to foul her and bested our field goal leader from last year (Kane) at 64% (vs. 63%).

It's a little too early to actively promote the ISU road game at University of St. Thomas but it came up on our Twin Cities ISUAA club Facebook page so I'll do an early update and promo here also.

We have the $5 ticket promo I mentioned earlier and have now set up a pre-game meetup at Tiffany's Sport Bar in St. Paul. Meetup will be from 5:00 to 6:15 or so (gametime is 7:00).

Here is a ticket order Promo Link: Iowa State Alumni Tickets

Could watch uncontested layups and threes all day long, or at least for 40 minutes!:D

Emily "Holly Golightly" is without any injury gear. But Em wore a sweatshirt and was not active in any of the brief vid. She looks fine though.

BF knows how important she is on and off the court. She has nothing to prove. Could very well be treating her like established vets in NFL camps. Not a whole lot of activity.

Of course there are those that say this veteran preferential treatment has caused some issues in the past as well. Probably more important in season than pre-season though.

I'd say I'd be surprised if she were going full tilt now rather than the slow-mo or even being withheld for a while. You make perfect sense.

Did Kansas and K-State bring in some good players? Is K-state just in anticipation of Lee being back, they went 5-13 in conf play.

Do we know if her "lower leg injury" is a stress injury like MEM dealt with? Those are tricky, and it makes a whole lot of sense for her to keep her mileage down for now.

EDIT: An article from August quoted BF as blaming her injury on "wear and tear over time", which certainly could be a stress injury.
