2023-24 ISU WBB Season Thread

Polls came out, not much change with Texas, Baylor and KSU staying at their same ranking. TCU sneaked in at #25. WVU and TT receiving votes. LOL at TT getting votes since they have played NOBODY.
Based solely on improvement to date, I’d say I’m more than cautiously optimistic. We actually have some matchup problems for other teams. Ryan is a wild card. Keys will be (a) consistency from Diew, (b) no off quarters by the team, (c) the guards being threats on offense and (d) perhaps most importantly, solid defense.
Kind of surprised Brown hasn't gotten one after 4 consecutive double-doubles. Also surprised it took this long for ANY of the freshmen to win Freshman of the Week.
Not sure what they did that week without wasting too much time looking it up but here are the winners each week so far.
Freshman:
Nov. 13: Stailee Heard, OSU, G
Nov. 20: Kailey Woolston, BYU, G
Nov. 27: Kailey Woolson, BYU, G
Dec. 4: Madison Booker, UT, F
Dec. 11: S'Mya Nichols, KU, G
Dec. 18: Audi Crooks, ISU, C
Kaily Woolston is averaging 15 PTS and shooting 54% from three.
Madison Brooker, preseason FOY, 11.5 PTS and 4 REB
S'Mya Nichols, averaging 14.6 PTS 44% from three
Stailee Heard, 15.4 PTS 6.6 REB
Audi Crooks, 16.1 PTS 6.0 REB

Brooker is the pre-season pick but so far the the FOW winners plus Brown will be giving her a run for that award. Brooks is doing well but five other gals are putting up some awesome stats so far. Going to be quite an all-freshman team if they all keep up their current production. Will be better head to head for this in conference play as everyone will play a couple of P6 games each week with cupcake stat stuffer games.
I didn't want to ruin everyone's fun in the OG thread, but stan is millennial for an over-enthusiastic fan.
Good to know. I just love the name! My HS football coach was named Stan. A recent TV show that made me laugh was "Stan Against Evil", staring Dr. Cox from Scrubs.
What do we think for the conference season?
I think the first 4 will tell us a lot, go 2-2 and I think we carry that through. Go 3-1 or 4-0 look out!

ESPN put out a Top Freshman so far list today. Lot's of great freshman this year. Addy Brown came in at #5 and Audi Crooks at #10.
LOT's of Big 12 players on the list, The same six I mentioned on Tuesday as the top freshman in the Big 12 (after Crooks got FOW) all made the list so they are getting some respect. Also explains why Abby Brown, as great as she's been, hasn't gotten the Freshmen of the week. Tough competition for that each week. Still, for all around she might still be FOY.
