2-2 start - Content or disappointed?

I didn't think this team was good enough to win on the road before the season started.

We are vastly undermanned with talent in the trenches. Things are looking great regarding who we brought in last year. I'm still very excited and think we will have a better record than last year.

It's no secret you seek out reasons to go after Gene. It's no different than the all-out Dan haters. Simply put - this group will win and lose as a team. It's Gene's job to win yet he can't execute the plays. Give it a rest.

I can't see how it would open a comparison between the two coaches - well a logical one that is. I didn't think Baylor was that bad of a team last year.

I don't feel qualified to examine "motivations" of posters - I just absorb the content of their posts. Apparently you have mental powers that I don't.
I am disappointed with the discipline and fundamentals of our team so far, aspects that I thought we had hired Chizik to improve over Mac.
Baylor was 0-8 in the conference last year and averaged 13 points a game in those losses. They were awful. Provided we are are some sort of track here, this should be a win.

I fully expected us to be at least 3-1 non-conference, and we could easily be 4-0, so I am disappointed. I'm sure the players and coaches would say the same thing at this point.

That said though, all hope is not lost and I believe the team will still pull out a few good wins this year.

I am very disappointed. I think we had enough on the field to win at Iowa and UNLV and we just didn't execute. The biggest problem I see with this is momentum for the season. Kansas certainly isn't where they were last year, but I still think we will drop that one. And with our road issues, Baylor is far from a sure thing as well. If we drop both of those games we will be 2-4 and riding a 4 game losing streak into Nebraska and aTm at home. I think we can compete at home with Nebby and aTm, but with as young as we are, that momentum will be huge.

I'm slightly disappointed and not as happy with the talent as some of you. I'm concerned about who is going to take the place of RJ Sumrall next year. Not sold on Sed Johnson or Darks yet.

Not at all surprised considering how difficult it is to develop effective leadership on a team. The guys who were responsible for the improvement throughout the season last year have moved on. There was not an obvious heir apparent on either side of the ball. One of the guys who Gene took to Big 12 media days is now likely the 3rd team guy.

This team needs an alpha male to emerge on both sides of the ball. If we had this , I honestly don't believe that we would be having all of the discussions about PF penalties. Peer pressure is the best way to control inappropriate behavior. It's early enough that the team can rally around guys who are willing to step forward and provide leadership. If leadership doesn't emerge, then we have not yet seen the bottom.

While I agree... both really have the potential to be as good as RJ.

I'm disappointed... we should be 3-1. We played like crap the 1st half of the UNLV game... and dominated Iowa the whole 2nd half and found a way to lose that game. One of the two should have been a win.

Really? And you haven't reminded them about their recent "successes" against Minnesota, Northwestern, and Indiana why?

Just so I can spare us a visit from SH or DJK, I'm pretty sure Iowa hasn't lost to Minnesota since like 2000. Now as for the other two, have fun with that!

Disappointed - yes, surprised - not in the least, because of our terrible road history. I'm glad JP gave up a home game and possible win next year (K State).

I'm not thrilled with it, but it's better than where we were last year, and I'm fairly happy with the play of the team.

I'll take losses to a good UNLV team, and Iowa playing their superbowl, over losses to UNI, Toledo and Kent State anyday.

Just looking for improvement this year, to be honest, and if we can do the same thing we did last year and improve all season, I think we can eek 2 or 3 wins out of the Big 12 schedule...maybe more if the team really comes together.

I think the talent is out there to win 4 or 5 games in the Big 12 if we catch a break or two and don't hurt ourselves too much.

I'd say 5 wins is probably about what we've got in the tank for this year, though, and that would have been a reasonable expectation going into the season, so I guess I'm not disappointed.

Well I think that any fan of any team would their team to be undefeated, however reality gets in the way.

I am actually content. Iowa is always a toss up game, and plus it was the first time playing against a team of that speed and strength. Do I hate losing to them only to hear them say "Hawkeye State," and put up with all of the Schumkeye fans glorifying their team on Sound Off, well yes. However that was a lot to be learned from that game. Does it stink that we were able to get into the red zone 6 times only to come with 3 points? Yes, but we can not expect to win games with these sort of stats.

UNLV all I can say is we have to move on. It is so easy for us to say that if we had a stronger first half we coulda/shoulda/woulda had the game. The fact of the matter is that we didn't and going into the second half down by 21 points and get a win is just improbable. We are not the 2006 USC (I think thats the year that a good number of their games they were down by a substainal amount points in the half then come back in the second to win) I think the last time we came back from sort of a deficit and win was back in 2002 at Iowa. I can't recall how much we were down by but I remember it was at least 20, and two things that helped us to get that win was Seneca Wallace, and it was Iowa. Someone brought this up before and I agree with whoever stated it, we are a very young team and we are going to have our growing pains. Young teams will always be predisposed to play inconsistant has what happened in this game.

It would have been nice to go 4-0 to give us a lot better chance at making a bowl game but oh well. It looks like my winter vacation this year is going to be reliving the nostalgic memories of growing up in Northwestern Iowa with something to drink at the ready because quite frankly that is all that there to do up in LeMars.

I try to be as decent to them as possible since being one of like 2 Cyclone fans I actually know in Cedar Falls, I have very little help in a heated arguement with Iowa fans if Isucyclone4 isn't around. (Plus I dont follow them too close, so I wasn't fully aware of losses to Min and NW :wideeyed:)
