As if listening to this station in the mornings wasn't bad enough, now we're stuck listening to ads for HawkeyeNation 5 times an hour? I feel like it's the ultimate troll job on someones part.

Back to the Joe Rogan podcast in the mornings.

I really don't see how you guys listen to any of this crap. Only one I can stomach is CW's show and only when he is actually there. They were talking about most successful Iowa athletes as professionals and all they could talk about were Hawkeyes. Didn't even mention Harrison Barnes even though he just won an NBA title.

This doesn't surprise me at all.

If it's terrible, listen to something else. I stopped listening to Des Moines radio shows a long time ago, especially the morning ones. Podcasts are the way to go if you want something tailored to your interest.

Flip over to 1700 in the mornings (if you want to stay local). If you're like me, you get enough national stuff at other times. Between the two local shows, I'm finding myself on 1700 more and more these days (at least during my morning drive).

It's just a terrible time of the year for sports talk, especially local sports talk. Once football gets going, I'll tune back in (until we lose our first few games), but for now I'll pass.

Can I start the "***** about KXNO" thread next month, or does someone else have dibs?

The only 2 good people on the local shows are Keith Murphy and Chris. Andy is alright. Ross is a know it all who actually knows nothing.

Another thing that bothers me is when Andy and Keith get up on their soapbox about social issues. But, that's why I don't ever really listen to local shows.

I post this alot.. But try living in Western Iowa. It is all Husker talk... Des Moines sports talk radio is awesome!

I listen to Murph and Andy a bit but everything else is awful.

I'm a huge fan of Murph and have met him multiple times. I agree with this complete and this is what I wanted to say but out of respect for CW I just said in the morning. I'm going to take someones tip and give 1700 a shot in the mornings.

Thank God my commute is generally only 15-20 mins.

Morning listen to Mike & Mike for a national view, maybe check in on XM and CNN for a news update. Don't even try local sports radio in the AM

On the way home - I generally start with CW and Ross. But most of the time they're talking like a couple college buddies reminiscing about nothing in particular - and mostly nothing to do with sports, local or otherwise. If they DO have a guest - Ross seems to forget they have that guest on and talks over whomever for most the segment. If nothing is working on 1460, I'll flip over to 1700 and it'll take Marty about 60 seconds to say something completely asinine (btw - they both have a real hatchet job going on about ISU. More than usual). But I have to give credit where it's due - they talk sports a HELL OF A LOT more than 1460. Anyway, click. So then it's over to XM and a news network or a comedy channel. By that point - usually about home.

So the afternoon drive is pretty much a channel flipping session 3 or 4 days a week.

This comment kind of surprises me. I'd say that our show is at least 80 percent sports. Sure, we get off topic every now and then but being July in Iowa, that's bound to happen. When is your commute? 6 o'clock hour is off the wall quite a bit, I do admit that.

Generally about 4-4:30. So usually it's a rehash of last night, the weekend. Something like that. Who went to lamaze, who's kids is what. TV, musicians. The fascination with your co-horts on The Bachelor is mind-numbing.

I don't envy you. It's not easy to come up with 15 hrs of material. Honestly - my biggest gripe is you're no longer a guest, feels like you have to play more "center field" in talking local teams and hence there's no real Cyclone advocate on the air anymore. Which is all I really care about in the first place.

And to be fair - I only listen to radio in the car. So that 15 mins or so each way to work. So I may just be unlucky as all get out on timing.

Hey - I always start on 1460.
