1460

Generally about 4-4:30. So usually it's a rehash of last night, the weekend. Something like that. Who went to lamaze, who's kids is what.

I don't envy you. It's not easy to come up with 15 hrs of material. Honestly - my biggest gripe is you're no longer a guest, feels like you have to play more "center field" in talking local teams and hence there's no real Cyclone advocate on the air anymore.

Hey - I always start on 1460.

Well yeah...As a host I have to talk about everything. It can't be 15 hours of Iowa State every week. It's funny though because Iowa fans claim that our show is all Iowa State all the time. Iowa State fans say we don't talk enough Iowa State. It's impossible for me to win here.

We still have CF & all of our podcasts. None of that stuff will change.

I will always talk Cyclones on KXNO. My ISU jobs aren't changing. Still on radio network. Still publish CF. Only difference is I've got another 20 hours of work per week compared to what I did before.

I'm still the same guy.

Just spit-balling here...

These radio threads always fascinate me, more because everybody wants different things when they consume any type of media.

Like on CF...half of you think I'm this Kool-Aid chugger. Then there is the "Williams isn't pro Iowa State" enough crowd.

Some people view sports radio as "straight x's & o's all the time." Others want flare, personality. Some like shock jocks. Others like intelligent sports conversation.

Everybody has their own taste. Some people like reading novels, some like non-fiction. Some enjoy vanilla ice cream. For others, chocolate is their jam.

It really is impossible to please everybody but dammit, I will keep trying!

You've changed, man.

Next thing we know, there will be a picture of you wearing a Nebraska Cornhusker shirt floating around here or something.

Haha. In all seriousness, I feel like the KXnO gig has allowed me to be more of myself, if that makes any sense. I feel like that voice is developing more and more by the day too.

Some people might not like me (which is totally fine) but they can't call me a phony. What you hear on KXNO ( and our podcasts) is what you'd get if you were having a beer with me at the bar.

Yea. All I can say is previously when you heard CW was going to be on the air - you knew it was Cyclone talk. I know that's the angle with Hines and a few others - and they're fine. But it's not the same. And it's hard to anticipate those ISU segments.

I appreciate the podcast stuff. Well - I don't. It's not my cup 'o tea. I'll listen in if I you are promoting something I find interesting. I know the others love the pods. I'm just trying to fill my drive time. So I'm not knocking you, your allegiances or the work you're doing on CF at all. Just what I'm getting out of my radio in the evening commute.

If I turn it on and you guys got something going, I'm dialed in. If M&M have Kaplan or somebody on. That's where I'm at as well. Like I said - I'm only 15 minutes of demographic anyway.

Good news for you guys is that those two buffoons have pretty much stated unapologetically that they are not even going to acknowledge the existence of the Big XII this fall.

I only listen to KXNO now for Cardinals baseball--and they've started slipping that horrid "rap" station ID into the program. I have to force down regurgitation when that monstrosity comes on. If they keep it up, I may have to give up the Cards broadcast altogether.

Not listening to his team because of a 10-second station ID: "Best Fans in Baseball"

CW, I don't know how old your co-host is, but if he is around your age, you need someone older to chime in if you are going to discuss "all time" greats. All I heard them blabbing about were recent Hawkeyes and Hawk fans (Johnson & Johnson) for all time great Iowa professional athletes. I mean, you don't have to go Tiny Engebretsen old even though he played on some championship Packer teams, but a little farther back would add a little more interest to the discussion.

Other than telling Ross he doesn't need to change his opinion every time Andrew says something smart during "4 Downs" and getting you to stop saying "daddy likes", I wouldn't change too much. I'm sure the show will tighten up a ton once we hit late August/early September.

I enjoy the friendly banter that you and Ross have. The tough part for me sometimes is hearing you guys at a remote location. I'm not sure if it's from a production stand point or what but I can only listen to a few minutes if you are at the Bait Shop because of the noise and bad signal type quality.
I do also understand that they are paying the bills, so its part of the job as well.

Ross is 37, I believe. 6-7ish years older than me. AD is a year older than me. I'm the pup.

Thanks pal.

Yeah, quite honestly, I hate remotes too. I requested for us to not have as many of them in the future. Bills have to be paid but quality has to be our No. 1 priority. Otherwise nobody will listen.

The "banter" will only improve when the seasons kick off here shortly and we continue to gain chemistry. I appreciate the support. Feel free to leave input whenever you have it.

That rap is awful
Fingernails on a blackboard.

Thanks pal.

Thanks. I figured things would heat up once the kickoffs, er, kicked off.

Buy an aux cord and listen to your own music or podcasts.

A wuh?

I had a rental the other day that I had to buy an aux cord for to listen to my music. It was a 2014 Compass, but I felt like I stepped back into 2003.

You guys are so savvy.

As for 1460, Chris and Ross are an upgrade, but I wouldn't want to "have a beer" with either. So when the banter starts, I change the station. But the sports talk is good enough to listen for 10-15 minutes.
