Pollard is probably enjoying the Barnett, Stoops, etc talk. Look over there while I'm really over here.

If Barnett didn't have his shady past, he'd be a good option. But then again, the guy would likely not be looking for work.
IF Marty is correct and we have our man then why would we have to wait to annouce if it is Barnett? He is not coaching so there would be no reason to wait.

Jim Zorn will more than likely get fired here within the next week. I like Jim Zorn. I think Jim Zorn would make a great coach at Iowa State. Jim Zorn is in contract negotiations.

Regarding Barnett and character concerns, I think a good litmus test is to ask yourself what your initial reaction would be if a rival school hired him. Granted, the man can coach, but I wouldn't be completely comfortable with it. Winning would put everyone on board, but any off the field problems would make a segment of the fan base go nuts.
We had a divided fan base when McCarney was let go. Now that Chizik has kicked Iowa State in its collective crotch, we're very united. Hiring Gary Barnett would divide us again just like that.

I think it was probably close to evenly split on Mac, and the half who disagreed was pretty much resigned to the fact.
I would not be shocked if Marty was working with Pollard on this - or the source Marty has is working with Pollard on it.
