Time for a Real Discussion About Caitlin Clark

Don’t ruin it for all the Iowa fans that think the whole country worships her!
You can congratulate her and say nice things and nobody will text Tom and ask him to prove it but Hawk fans seriously think everyone sits around watching Iowa women’s basketball lol

You said everybody outside of Iowa thinks she's a "whiny, overly dramatic, baby." I posted just a few examples of non-Iowans heaping praise on her without saying she's any of those things. You then shifted your focus from them thinking she's a "whiny, overly dramatic, baby" to them not saying she's the best player of all time. Pivot.
I would not say everybody.

I have seen and talked to a lot that do.

I have also seen a lot that dont.

She's a pretty polarizing figure. Both in Iowa and elsewhere.

I love the reactions of threatened Hok fans that say you are a sexist, or dont support women, etc if you dont care for her or even if you dont cheer for her. Then they start personally attacking you and attacking your family for daring to say something against her.

Then when you ask these same people if they cheer for Crooks, or if they hope she breaks all of CCs records, you get nothing but crickets. They cant admit they are in love with her because she is a Hok, not because she is a woman or anything else. But sure love to attack anyone that doesnt love her.

What more does she have to prove at the college level?

And I seriously worry that a few of you would literally stroke out if you had to put up with another year of her in college.

On a smaller/less relevant scale there's a few situations like this that have backfired at ISU and I'm sure there's plenty of other examples in regards to players coming back for their Covid years etc.

Couldn't a donor just step up and pay for Ava to go to school if it meant another year for CC? Seems like an obvious solution if that is really the only thing standing in the way of CC coming back.
You would think with the NIL and instate costs that CC could go walk on.

Well they said they've enjoyed watching her play this season and will continue watching IowaWBB, so there's that. Unless you don't believe them?

I think they will keep the Clark bump for a about 3 years, not sold out but well attended.
ISU's best attendance yrs were in that late 90s early 2000s. We still sell a bunch of tkts but most yrs it doesn't translate into butts in the seats. This yr with the interest in the freshman ISU attendance has steadily gained all season. Especially on the weekend double headers. Easy to stay for 2 games once you make the drive.
At best the Iowa AD can hope to turn this interest into long term season tkt holders even if they don't attend. It is still money in the till.

CC plays great fake defense. She is very good at waving at the player driving by her in the paint

Was out for a late lunch and caught the end of the Iowa game. Iowa was up 98-85 game clock would have expired, Iowa jacks up the 3 to make the final 101-85. Bush league and classless no surprise there.
I think Marcus Fizer did that vs Okey State in the Big 8 tournament one year. But I think he threw it up just messing around and didn't think it would go in, if I remember right

This was shot no doubt about it. Hell Mary Kate had the ball at the end of our game yesterday I think we got the ball back with 20 or so to go EVERYONE in Hilton there would be no shot.

No walk ons? Paul Shirley used his National Merit scholarship but that was two decades ago when college sports wasn’t professional sports
I brought this up once with Shirley and I think Skoglund as well who got a lot of academic scholarships, and what I was told was they still count against the athletic scholarship count to avoid schools from just making up academic scholarships to give to athletes to then walk on to teams. I can't verify that is accurate, just what someone told me. I have to admit it does make sense.

I believe you are correct.

Pretty sure there are rules against athletes paying their own way to circumvent scholarship limits, but I could be wrong with as frequently as the rules are changing.
Right before bowl season something came up around this. Not sure of the result. I think KSt was down to their backup QB as a result of injuries and opt outs. He was a transfer from Missouri and walked on, paying his own way last year. They had to apply for a waiver for him to play. Not sure if they got it or not.
