ISU @ Houston/Big Monday

Houston Average Margin of Victory at home is a staggering 30.4 points.

Iowa State AMOV on the road is 1.3.

We have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I just looked and yeah they've taken care of things at home including in conference.

We’re playing with house money basically. No reason not play loose and give it a good run. Lose and it does nothing to hurt you, win and it can do all the good in the world for you. This is an exciting time for cyclone basketball!

Houston is #1 in BIg12 ORB, ISU is #8 . That is the biggest difference between the 2 teams IMO. On top of that, Hassan Ward had 4 fouls in 9 minutes last game. Maybe we should send more guys to the boards? Or do we look for advantages in transition ? ISU currently has more fb points than Houston.

Both teams are 1 & 2 in most steals and fewest offensive turnovers in the conference.

Yeah there is no downside to this game. If we win great, if we lose it doesn’t really matter. All upside.
Unless we get the doors blown off like Marquette did against UConn. I'm not foreseeing that...but a close game won't hurt us at all.

Agreed, a loss hurts but we know we are still REALLY good, win and essentially with the tie breaker gives us a 2 game lead over Houston

The Prohm era would have been even worse if Iowa State football hadn’t been competitive.

As bad as those last Prohm teams were, I'd say the McDermott era was way worse. At least Prohm won a Big 12 title and made the Sweet 16. And, if I recall, we weren't as good in football either when McDermott coached.

It was pretty frustrating to get all that talent and watch not much of anything done with it.

Good site for a lot of info.
By the way, the Golden Gophers are on a historic ATS run.

You can switch the criteria for Straight up.

And look up all sorts of scenarios.

BYU
Iowa State
Houston

Have the top 3 Margin of Victory vs Non-Conference opponents.

Big 12 has 5 of the top 11.

And Kansas isn’t one of them.

Cream puffs or not.

Couple things about that first game - starting with, how the **** did we beat Houston shooting 3-15 from deep?!?

We forced Houston into 16 turnovers - their high on the season by a long ways. They haven't had more than 10 in any other Big XII game - including only 3 in their loss in Lawrence. We also outscored them 17-6 in points off of turnovers. This is an absolute key tomorrow night - we need to be able to force turnovers AND score off of them.

They out fouled us 19-12, which led to a 22-12 FT advantage. We made 18-22, meaning this is one of the few games this season we WON at the FT line. I would not expect to have a FT advantage on the road, so we'll need to make that up elsewhere (like shooting better than 20% from deep). Although, looking at it closer, Houston has shot more FTs that their opponent only 3 times in conference play - that's one of the rare data points that isn't a strength for them

We also outscored them 22-18 on points in the paint. Holding them to < 20 paint points is huge - we need to be able to do that again.
