49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

It still was huge even with the loss, he represented ISU well and continues to help build ISU's reputation in the NFL. Lazard, Montgomery, Hall are also building ISU's reputation. Cyclones entering future drafts can have these guys to thank since ISU is getting more and more known to put talent in the NFL.
Until the talking heads give him credit, it will still be tough. That won’t happen until he wins the big one or MVP, and I can’t see them giving him the MVP until he wins a Super Bowl.

The only talking heads I've seen knocking him since the NFC championship are the ones that get their ratings by having insanely bad takes. If their audiences truly believe it, they don't know football and their opinion doesn't matter.

When people like Romo say he’s an executive manager instead of a game manager, that’s still leaving the stupid manager knock. Why not just say, he’s a good quarterback and not a game manager?. They can’t drop the manager thing that is what is the knock on him.

How do you watch the game today and come away thinking they weren't giving Brock credit for what he was doing? They talked him up at every opportunity.

Brock deserved the accolades. Blocked XP. Muffed punt down near the goal line. Bad penalty by Kittle’s sub that forced them eventually to settle for a FG in OT. Defense missed Dre Greenlaw due to a freak Achilles injury. None of that is on Brock.

Brock played about as well as Mahomes TBH. Shanahan and Wilks let him down. They were really missing DrMeco and Greenlaw.

Hopefully shanahan learns from this.

And I'm really tired of the Chiefs. Kelce and Mahomes just aren't likeable anymore. Still like Reid though.

Kicker missed a PAT. Mccaffrey had a fumble. Special teams muffed punt. Just terrible to see. I thought Brock played well enough to win
Unfortunately, our oline didn't play well enough to win.
Defense has issues, but small potatoes compared to oline.
May the day come, where I don't see Brock, running around like a chicken with his head cut off!

Shanahan has had three chances to learn how to win a Super Bowl after being up 10. Probably won’t happen.

Mahomes would have played better but his teammates let him down most of the game.

I suspect Bud Grant and Marv Levy could say the same (4 time SB losers).
For that matter, toss in Brock's hero - Marino.
**** happens....much/some of which isn't on coaching or individuals.
As Chuck Knoll once said, following a Steeler SB win.
"I'm not gonna take credit, for balls bouncing our way..."

CMC fumble first drive was killer, multiple penalties (offsides/false starts) that put them behind the chains, questionable offensive and defensive calls by the coaching staff (not running the ball more when you have CMC, not atleast having CMC in the backfield, not rolling Brock out more to get away from Chris jones, the all out blitz in the fourth that gave up the TD, etc…), Brock missed a couple of deep throws that would’ve been TDs had he hit them, WR drops (how many did deebo have alone? 3?), the muffed punt, not calling a timeout at the end to set up the d and give the d a breather in PT after Kelce got the first. The blocked FG was probably the least of these and one could argue had moody made it, the chiefs then would’ve gone for it on forth towards the end of the game and could’ve won it there. The list goes on.

Romo didn't say he was an executive manager he said "Brock is no longer a game manager he is a game executive"

I thought shannahan flat out chocked.
How I now picture Shannahan:

The 49ers definitely had some moments that helped them lose. The CMC fumble, the entire penalty sequence on Trent Williams in the 1st q where they ended up like 1st and 35, the muffed/bounced punt, the DB tearing his ACL walking onto the field, etc.

Brock didn't have an amazing game, but had a perfectly respectable one.

This. Wanted 49ers to win it, but the studs didn’t shine. Game plan seemed to be Bricj is gonna have to beat us with his 3-4th options. I don’t know enough about film but that’s why Jennings had a game and ball was as spread around.

They took away his 1-4 options was my read. Great defense by Chiefs. Pat made just enough plays.

This one will sting for a while, though I cant imagine how lifelong 49er fans are feeling today. Still an amazing story this far into his career. Last pick in the draft was an OT away from beating the best player in the world for the super bowl.
At this point, it’s Brady, Montana, Mahomes and everyone else.

There’s plenty generational talents, SB winners and HOF that never got there or won.

That said, never guaranteed you can get there so when you do it’s great to win

This. The 'everyone hates Brock' mantra has to stop. Kid was incredibly cool, calm and collected yesterday, and took SF down field 3 times to take lead in the fourth and OT. No legitimate analyst is negative on Brock.

There will always be guys that are out for ratings and will continue to knock. Heck, there was someone that had Mahomes ranked 6th out of all playoff QBs. Its all for attention and nothing more. Brock proven that he belongs in that top 10 tier QB in the NFL. Now go do it one more year and get yourself paid.
