Because if it's recruiting ranking, there are a few guys who were pretty high profile. Wieskamp and Woody come to mind, but they didn't have a ton of competition for them, if I recall correctly

Why would Devries leave a winning program like drake and inherit that dumpster fire at Iowa, I know your looking at more $$ than he is earning now but is the heartache worth it.

My 2 cents Iowa can be a good job just need the right coach Lute and Dr. Tom both made it formidable.
Their fans are as fickle as can be though.

Growing up a huge Hawkeye fan and stepping into Hilton for a game in 97 as a freshman I realized immediately that ISU basketball fans were on a different level than Iowa. It kind of shocked me because that was when ISU fb hadn’t quite woken up from apathy.
