2024 Football Schedule

The things I read about it being a really easy schedule are overblown. I put in the Team Rankings rating from the end of the season for each of the teams on our schedule and got an average rating of 2.375 (I put in a -15 for North Dakota which is a very low level FBS team). As a comparison Iowa's schedule from last season had an average rating of 0.9917.

Honestly, pretty much every fan base on twitter is commenting on how manageable their schedule looks.

I think it's mostly a function of having no true blue bloods in the conference.

Definitely looking forward to playing in a conference with true parity!

Is West Virginia good or was it a product of their schedule this past season? They have a pretty brutal start this season. 7 of their first 8 games are tough. When ISU goes to Morgantown in mid-October, WV could be 2-3/1-4?

I was thinking ISU's trip to WV this season could be really tough, but it's always tough there and we owe them for what happened in 2021.
WVU returns all but 2 key players, and has added talent in the portal.
I've seen people not wvu related pick WVU in the top 25. WVU gurus are saying we return the best qb in the big 12, and that 10 wins is the floor.

i expect 8-4. offense should be really hard for anyone to stop if GG remains healthy. The kid is the best running qb wvu has had since pat white. He can throw deep ball well, and wvu has a couple burners, so piling up the los shouldnt work.

WVU special teams return everyone.

Defense sucked at times last season, but injury bug was ridiculous. WVU's defense should be loaded with injured guys returning, portal transfers, and true freshmen having a year of experience.

It wouldnt shock me if WVU beats Penn State this year. it also wouldnt shock me if WVU loses @ Pitt. WVU has a talented team, but it will live and die on GG's feet and the long ball. he doesnt throw short well--too much of a fastball guy.

UCF are absolute legends for the CycloneLarry69 reference in their schedule drop video. (2:25 mark)

Interesting to see him rip down the photo of Steven Leath. I'm assuming there are issues with Gus Malzahn's relation with Leath.

Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, and Colorado have no videos.

Baylor is fun:

Cincy is like Texas Tech with lip reading; ok:

Houston - thumbs down:

Kansas is ok:

K-State has a take on Family Feud which makes you realize how much that show relies on Steve Harvey being hilarious:

ISU's has some good ones (Tech was funny): https://twitter.com/CycloneFB/status/1752361032067211484

TCU's is about emojis which I liked: https://twitter.com/TCUFootball/status/1752365471658287423

Texas Tech is too long: https://twitter.com/TexasTechFB/status/1752391803360174511

UCF is clearly the best one. That was epic.

Utah's is ok: https://twitter.com/Utah_Football/status/1752363618665144574

West Virginia is meh: https://twitter.com/WVUfootball/status/1752385471194501623

This may explain how the one guy from WV already knew the Iowa State date. Frankly, I'm surprised that more didn't leak out with so many players having this info.

I don't think that's true...

There's not very many guaranteed losses on here, I agree. But I also don't think there's that many guaranteed wins either.
without a doubt, we should have 6 wins at the minimum.....every home game aside from K-State we should be favored in.....our road slate is definitely tough with trips to Morgantown, SLC, and even though KC might be more of a bowl game type feel crowd wise, KU is still a good team that is well coached.

It's 100% a reference to twitter legend Cyclone Larry, who uses Leath as his profile picture.

I think it may be more. Gus Malzahn coached at Auburn when Leath was there.

as much as WVU improved, I don't think they will beat Penn State.....Penn State still from a talent perspective, really outweighs WVU in that department...Morgantown will be rocking for that game though.

Rent free. Probably my best troll job of 2023 and you lamewad dad joke wannabe hoks are still consumed by it. ALSO WE LOST TO OHIO AND MEMPHIS. What kind of terrible losses does it take for you guys to get Campbells **** out of your mouths?
Love how this still gets a reaction from your dumbass. Are you gonna answer the question?

Is anyone else really disappointed in the price increase? It would have been one thing if they had sent something out about a price increase but just dropping it on us.

That’s a 20% price increase after they priced us out of parking last year. I get it all costs money but it’s getting to be too much. I go with my sister and she just is finally starting her first job. I’ve been working longer but still have always stretched to afford the football tickets. Was finally getting to a place where it was finally comfortable to pay for the tickets. We almost cancelled last year because of the time and losing parking. We ended up getting them as we could sell the Iowa tickets and recoup some. Just don’t see that as feasible this year.
$50 increase on $600 is 20 percent? Also, there's 7 home games this year.

275->325 is a 20% increase. If you want to get super specific it is 18.18% repeating. Either way it’s more and more that you are asking of people.

At least for football you also have the fact that it kills basically your entire weekend. I’m not sure what we will do for this next year but strongly considering dropping.

That's Cyclone Larry's pfp on Twitter.

Guys, Guz Malzahn didn't participate in the production of the football schedule announcement video on Twitter in order to convey a secret message about his feelings for Steven Leath.
They probably didnt even know who Leath is/was. I am sure Gus didnt get involved with that part to tell them.

Hell I would guess a lot of people either think that is Larrys real pic, or have no idea who the pic is. Probably more that dont know who it is vs that know.

My guess is it was totally a Cyclone Larry reference, as they went back to him again later. And they really had no idea who the pic is of beyond that.
