49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

This is the first time I really analyzed that play (I had to go pick up a pizza down the block).

The way I heard people criticizing Brock I figured it was a horrible throw and he got lucky. I see a flag, it was PI on Detroit so it wouldn't have mattered if he dropped it or even if it was an interception...also the ball probably hits Aiyuk in stride if he doesn't get bumped.

Fantastic play by Brock and it's hilarious I've heard it described as lucky and a bad throw.

The throw was good, but if you don't watch that play and think holy **** that's lucky then I don't know what to say. And they picked up the flag so it definitely mattered.

The refs ended up picking up the flag presumably because the defender had position and was playing the ball.

It was a good throw by Brock, better coverage and a bad attempt to catch the ball by Vildor, and a great job staying with the deflection by Aiyuk.

I think in a perfect world that was one Brock would want to underthrow just a bit, but he got Aiyuk in a great matchup and threw a catchable ball. Aiyuk lost the matchup initially and then made an incredible play on a second chance.

It's rough to call that one a "should have been picked" pass, that's a tough catch to make for the DB.

If Aiyuk didn’t catch it I don’t think they pick it up. Think they figured it wouldn’t matter and it wasn’t worth figuring out.

The biggest myth in sports right now is that the 49ers have a great defense and o line.
The 49ers defense was ranked 3 in scoring defense. Trent Williams was a 1st team all-pro. 6 other all-pro players. This is not a knock on Purdy, but factually the 49ers have a stacked team which is why they’ve been so deep in the playoffs the past 5 years. I am rooting for Purdy to get the SB win, but it isn’t a huge stretch to say that they have a great defense based on the numbers.

They were middle of road in pass defense, red zone defense, and third down defense. They created a ton of turnovers which helped their ppg. They were good against the run in the regular season not so much in the playoffs

Trent Williams is a HOF and the best LT in the league. Unfortunately there are 5 guys on the line not just 1 and the other 4 simply haven’t been as good as advertised this year. They do have the best skill position group in NFL.

Did they create turnovers by being bad at defense?
