Time for a Real Discussion About Caitlin Clark

I’ll double down on this:

Let’s pretend for sake of argument CC was just an average big 10 women’s basketball player. But she still has the same childish behavior on the court, lashing out on a seemingly regular occurrence. Would fans view these outburst as being inappropriate? I’m guessing the answer is yes.

And if that answer is indeed “yes,” yet they view CC actions as just being “competitive,” wouldn’t that suggest the same behavior is only tolerated because of the player’s talent?

That seems to be the prerogative some Iowa fans have here anyway.
I’m not going to pretend CC is average. When I looked up MJ’s technicals it talked about MJ purposely getting technicals to change the way the game was being called. That’s what the announcers mentioned when CC got hers as what she was really upset about was the 3 pointer not being called good when she was fouled earlier. Here’s a list of the all time NBA leaders in technicals:

Top 8 players with the most technical fouls in NBA history
  1. Karl Malone (332)
  2. Charles Barkley (329) ...
  3. Rasheed Wallace (317) ...
  4. Gary Payton (250) ...
  5. Dennis Rodman (212) ...
  6. Russell Westbrook (172) ...
  7. Kevin Garnett (172) ...
  8. Kobe Bryant (166) ...
They aren’t average players. As someone else mentioned the great players typically take a beating with double teams, etc. Who’s more likely to get upset on the court, a star player being double teamed or the player the other team sags off of?

No but if you sift through the previous posts you have hok fans telling cyclone fans on a cyclone forum we need to be better and CC needs to be appreciated more. Nope, the go elsewhere for that ****
I can’t speak to what Iowa posters have said but us CYCLONE fans are calling you crybabies out for whining about the coverage she gets, her behavior, calling a 19 year old female athlete a *****, questioning her character without ever meeting her.

It’s idiotic. It’s embarrassing to the rest of us and it’s pathetic. I mean, there were MULTIPLE posters saying that their family nights were ruined because an Iowa game was on tv.

Cheer for them to lose or for her to go 0-27 but some of these post are so sad and really stupid.

Karl Malone huh? Well… maybe it’s just me but I would probably want to avoid people comparing my attitude and actions to him.

Well you come here and say hok fans don’t do it, say ISU forums need to do better and treat your CC better etc….but yet we see the chatter on Iowa forums? I’m shocked you think this way
I’ll challenge you to go to either paid site and find a thread about the Clones. I couldn’t find one.

So you actually think it’s fine for a superstar to behave childish but not for an average player. Interesting… so you’re saying it’s not ok for someone like Molly Harris to constantly complain about officiating but it is ok for CC.

There’s a pretty big flaw in your logic as well using career technical foul totals: the better the player, the longer their career (generally speaking). The longer the career, the more games they play. The more games they play, the more stats they rack up (in all categories). See where I’m going with that?

Lastly, how would the announcers know what CC was angry about when she got her T? Did they immediately interview her during the game and ask her? And I would like anyone to try to justify her outburst last night when her team was up by 22 points with 13 minutes left. It doesn’t make sense why someone would do that when the game isn’t in jeopardy

I think it’s quite the stretch to say you welcome it.
Don’t we have an ISRs forum? And aren’t Iowa/UNI/drake fans given a lot of leeway compared to similar situations on Hawkeye sites? Heck, we even have 2-3 Hawkeye trolls that are so obsessed that they have in double digit usernames here, they just reregister under the same IP address even.

You also have a list of players that played more seasons than most. Which NBA players will get more technicals than most, the player playing 1000 games or the one playing 50 games?

She's 21, not 19. She's a grown woman. What is wrong with calling a bi%ch a bi%ch? Nobody has a problem with calling male athletes douche bags or d!cks. I'm all about equality. I've been around her and I know several people that actually know her. They agree with me.

She's a great player. But that's not the point of this thread. If you don't like it don't ******* read through the thread?

Why are you so mad? If you have been around her did you call her a *****? That is weird.

Because most Clone fans are decent people and don't feel the need to constantly go out of their way to talk **** to Hawkeye fans? I live in Texas and see Hawkeye fans and don't really approach them.
However, I was in a drive thru line last year and someone was honking at me from behind. I lowered my window to see what the issue was and that douche just yells "Go Hawks!" because he saw my ISU license plate holder.
Same thing happens if any Hawkeye fans see me around wearing ISU shirts. Like, how insecure are you? I see your Iowa shirt, or license plate, etc and could not give two ***** about it, even less waste a minute of my day acknowledging it.

Hawk fans are just that way.

At my son’s orientation at ISU several years ago, another kid’s Dad was all decked out in Hawkeye gear. Everyone was gathered in a big auditorium in one of the Engineering buildings (Black I believe), and right before it starts, this guy yells “Go Hawks!”.

His son was so embarrassed of his d-bag Dad. Nobody in the auditorium said anything, or booed him, but there was just this big kind of like moan…. or sigh. Everyone was kind of like…. “oh great, not another one of these Hawkeye idiots…. our day is ruined.”.

The mods are so anal over there they dare not have a ISR forum on the non paid sites. How dare any one mock or put down the mighty Hawkeye nation on any of there sites? You even say anything about ISU and you get banned.

Was it 2011? Cause the exact same thing happened at one of my son’s engineering orientations. It happened with one of his brothers too, I think it was maybe the 2015 one, but by then I had prior experience and knew to expect Hawk dad insecurity.

We travel a lot, and it's pretty much the same wherever we go. If I see ISU gear on someone, if I'm close enough I'll usually say "go Cyclones". Hawkeye gear? Nah. But I hear "Go Hawks" a lot...

We were on Spring Break at the San Diego Zoo with the kids many years ago. Our shuttle included a squat guy and his family, decked out in hawk black and gold from head to toe, talking loudly to anybody who made eye contact. I successfully avoided him on the shuttle, but two hours later we're headed to the food court and hawk guy is lying bloodied on the ground with a couple guys in the process of walking away as his chubby kids wail.

I take pity on hawk guy and help him to his feet as my wife calls Zoo Security. Security arrives and we depart to order our food. While we're dining, the head of security walks over and asks me to give a witness statement. He says, "Hawk guy says he was attacked by three men and you didn't help. Why not?", to which I replied, "I thought three was enough."

Thanks but that would be against my policy.

Ticketmaster's seating chart is showing most of the seats in section 106 row A as sold/unavailable. Are you able to see what those went for? Those are directly behind the Iowa bench and they seem to be priced the highest. The few there that are available are listed at $1,300 not including fees.
To update you, wrestling tickets for tonight are no longer going for $1,200.
