***Official 2024 Weather Thread***

With all the stories of packed snow, I’m questioning whether I need to go out and take a first pass. I was planning on waiting until it stopped snowing this afternoon. It looks so peaceful out there from my window. I was hoping to avoid changing my opinion of snow until later.

Yeah, sorry, he's a SVP, not THE VP lol - he's been there about 20 years, they have plenty of money. They hire out things like lawncare & hanging Christmas lights, but guess he likes playing in the snow.

& I'm up at 5 everyday so it doesn't bother ME, it's just a **** move for those that aren't up at 5 am (like my kids). And again, to reiterate, **** move to do at 5 am when you've got nowhere to be***

But yeah, ultimately people can do what they want, some are just more considerate than others.
It’s not as big of a **** move as my neighbor firing up his mower at 6AM on a Saturday last summer.

The snow underneath is packed hard, which makes it tough to keep my snowblower from riding up on the packed part (which made the whole process a bit of a pain in the ass).

Overall snowfall didn't appear too burdensome (Polk City). BUT hell, I don't remember heavier snow than this. I cleared the driveway last night (around 9pm) thinking I'd get some of the heavy stuff out of the way. That was not the case this morning; still heavy and wet.

The VP of Wells Fargo should have an electric snowblower. My buddy just used his for the first time and said it did an amazing job. I think they've come a long way.

I told my parents to buy an EGO, so they did. Now they are going to return it today. It did half of their drive and sidewalk before it died and they just have a normal suburban corner lot. The neighbors ended up finishing up for them.

I used my gas-powered snowblower at around 6:30 this morning so the wife could get out for work. It was having a hard time in spots. I'm glad I got an initial pass through because I'm not sure it would have made it through all of it if I waited until it was done.

my snowblower got a workout this morning with that heavy snow. I almost killed it clearing the end of my driveway.

ended up helping the neighbor shovel her driveway after I cleared mine and put the snowblower away. They have a snowblower but her husband wasn't there and he forgot to fill the snowblower with gas. If I would have known that is what it needed, I would have filled it up for her. At least I got a workout.

I get people being unsure of getting a battery snowblower but your standard DSM/Ames quarter acre flat lot can easily be done using a battery mower. (Much more quiet)

That right there is an ******* neighbor. There is simply no excuse for that.
I've done it before, not by choice. It rained all week and I was leaving for vacation - it was either mow super early once the rain stopped or my yard was going to look like **** for a whole week while I was gone.
