Time for a Real Discussion About Caitlin Clark

She'll be 63, not 73, she's not retiring with the class she has coming in. Next year might even be fun for her to coach a bunch of talented freshman and a relief from the pressure she must be feeling this year. Sort of like how ISU team looks to be having way more fun this season than last year.

I could see Bill retiring if we make a deep run in 2026-27, Crooks and Brown's senior year. He would turn 70 that spring 2027. 70 is good retirement age for coaches, IMHO, if they are still being successful.

Got me thinking about the age of some of the other top tier or long time coaches with ton-o-wins:
  • Tara VanDerveer, Stanford, 70 (she won't retire until Geno does because she wants to go out with the most career wins)
  • Geno Auriemma, UConn, 69
  • Kim Mulkey, LSU, 61
  • Muffet McGraw. Notre Dame, retired at 64
  • C. Vivian Stringer, Iowa/Rutgers retired 73 (stayed too long)
  • Andy Landers, Georgia, retired at 62
  • Gary Blair, Arkansas/Texas A&M, retired at 76
  • Sylvia Hatchell, North Carolina, retired at 66

Nile Kinnick look out. You are no longer #1. Caitlin Clark Arena is about to happen.
Carver- Clark Hawkeye arena.

To be fair, only one out state stadium was sold out. And that was only a 8,000 seat arena
Wisconsin was sold out, Rutgers, and somebody else mentioned Minnesota. They are all in the same state?

Working on posting link.

Google Iowa Women's Basketball sellouts.

And I've "optimistically" been out of Iowa since 2000.

Wisconsin was a sellout, 71% capacity was because of how they sell tickets to Women's games. General admission as opposed to reserve seating for men. They sold all the tickets they made available.

I personally wouldn’t bet them to go to the final 4. Historically, championship level teams have more than 1 great player. It only takes one bad game to get knocked out. Beauty of the tournament. Been that way for a long time
I wouldn’t either. Will probably have about a 40% chance of making the final four.

The Hok men played to an attendance of 15,725 in Msdison this year.
Men's games at Kohl Center have a capacity of 17,000+. Women's games have a capacity of 14,000. They don't offer as many tickets for the women's games because it's general admission seating and they want to try making sure groups/families/friends can find seating together. Women's games there typically draw less than 5,000.

She's really good.

She's taking full advantage of our 'look at me!!' society and NIL deals.

She comes off like a jerk and it makes it not that enjoyable to watch. Hok fan family I have mention her behavior if it comes up.
Hawkeye fan family here don't realize that the Hawkeyes play something other than football.

Well, sometimes they recognize wrestling...

The hok men outdrew the hok women in Madison this year.

Lol, they usually draw less than 5,000 for WBB. They cap their tickets for WBB at 14,000ish and that's what they sold v. Iowa. Hence, sellout. I don't know why you're taking this so hard.
They can sell much more, hence only 71% capacity. Not sure why that’s hard to comprehend

They can only sell the # of tickets they make available for the game. Lol. They don't sell at 100% Kohl Center's seating capacity because it's general admission seating for WBB games, not assigned/reserved seating, and they want to be sure groups can find seating together. So they made around 14,000 tickets available, and sold them all.

A triple double in college basketball is not a single statistic haha. Clark is great and the best player in college women’s basketball today. She’s not a generational player, that’s just silly.
I'm not going to argue semantics about what counts as a single stat. I'm just pointing out that you started out by saying that Ionescu was a "better version of Clark" even though the only statistical defense you have for that is triple doubles, a number that claims that 10 of something is significantly more valuable than 9 of something.

And that’s poor management for Wisconsin. If there is demand for more tickets, you find a way to sell as many seats as you can. It’s not like they have to reconfigure the seats. And they didn’t even get 14k to show up. It’s not Iowa’s fault, but to call it a “sellout” when only 71% seats are occupied is basically claiming a self “sellout”.

Given that their WBB games typically only sell <5,000 tickets and they nearly tripled that # for CC and Iowa, I can understand if they were caught back on their heels.
