Raising Canes Sucks

First, for a good spicy chicken sandwich, with spices in the breading, not just sauce -
Culvers and Wendys. Culvers is probably the better piece of chicken and the quality will be more consistent, but Wendys is pretty spicy (for a mass market item) and is better when it's good. But some Wendys are, well, not great.

As far as Popeyes... there's one 2 blocks from my house. Went there first time a couple weeks ago. Never again. The food was okay, the chicken had some flavor, fries were good. But the place was disgusting. Mold on the pop dispenser nozzles. Floor hadn't been swept since who knows when, food and wrappers all over the place. I almost didn't eat any of it, but took the risk.

And 2 employees were actively smoking pot in the parking lot. We parked by the car, and watched an employee walk out there, get in the car (smoke rolls out) with his buddy, hang out a while, the the buddy gets out (smoke rolls out) and comes back in to work his shift. Just ludicrous. My daughter and gf daughter were with me and just dying laughing. They were frying, but also baked.

One opened here about a year ago. I like their chicken, but given the other choices around, it's a bit pricey. They do offer a number of spice levels, so you can easily tune it to your tolerance.
I really like spicy food so the hot is like perfect for me. Agree it is on the pricier side

The OG spicy chicken sandwich and Wendy’s is still awesome. I also like their ghost pepper ranch chicken as well

Anyone tried Dave’s Hot Chicken? Their hot chicken sliders are pretty solid. Can be very spicy depending on which level you order
the one here in Charlotte is like a 7/10 for me and too pricey for what it is imo. I am a fan of Cookouts chicken tenders/sandwiches.

RC isn't bad. It's just basic. It's perfect for the suburban family with kids. It's easy and unchallenging. They know their target audience and they're not trying be anything else. Personally, I find the chicken to be really under seasoned, but my nine year old thinks it's the best place on earth.

Yeah I think that is part of what has made them successful. They have a simple menu with limited items and it is made for the masses, and they turn it out fast.

It is what it is and you get what you get. They are not trying to be something else.

Sure a couple other sauces would be nice as their sauce is for sure not for everyone.

But they dont advertise it to be spicy chicken etc, and you cant really compare to someone elses spicy chicken because that is not what it is.

I guess if I want chicken I dont need it to be overly seasoned.

If I want spicy chicken then that is what I expect and I go somewhere with spicy chicken. And yes I like spicy chick too, then again I am very Not picky when it comes to food and like most everything, which has been hard on the waist line.

RCs, Zaxbys, Popeyes, Slim Chickens, Chick-fil-A. I've been impressed and disappointed with all of them. Consistency is not a strength of any of them.

I love it.

It’s good fast food fried chicken, if you expect it to be anymore than that, that’s on you.

It’s like when I heard people from the Midwest complain about In-N-Out not living up to the hype after the first time they try it. Well yeah, it’s just a good fast food burger.

At the end of the day, if someone is expecting fast food to be anything more than fast food, that’s a personal problem.
Don’t even get me started on how terrible In-N-Out is. Biggest scam from the west coast ever

Maybe the Popeyes in Des Moines just suck, but I've had tried it 3 times between Altoona and the Merle Hay location and each time it has been disgustingly bad.

Gus's is fantastic. Sides are great as well. I didn't realize they were a chain for quite a while. They do a good job feeling like a family-run fried chicken place.
Interesting!
There is one close to where I live and never considered it. I’ve never heard of it and just assumed it was some third rate POS.
