49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

No matter how the MVP voting turns out, Purdy has proven he is an elite QB in the NFL. Now go get that SB ring
As I just posted in the 49er thread, there are 7 other NFL QBs who rank ahead of Lamar Jackson statistically. If the 8th best QB is voted MVP, the award loses all credibility in my mind.

Lamar didn't have an MVP year statistically. But the biases and bad game against the Ravens will loom large. CMC could also be worthy. Brock was great all year and excellent against the Cowboys and Eagles. But the Christmas night prime time game will loom large unfortunately.

He's done a lot of stuff like that for us all year long. People talking about him like a game manager. He's a game breaker. He makes spectacular off schedule plays on his own which weren't drawn up. Anybody watching the games can see that.

Agreed, but sometimes I just have to remind myself of what he's doing. I've spent the past year and a half wondering if the magic was going to end for Brock. So I breath a sigh of relief when they win and sometimes don't realize how spectacular he has been.

I'm not used to being a fan of an elite team. ;)

Had the Niners been competitive and he just had a meh game he would potentially still be fine. But those four picks (doesn’t matter if they were all on him or not that’s how it goes) was the real dagger. Even only a couple of picks would be borderline but four is just too much of an eye sore. Especially since Lamar did what he did today against a good Dolphins team.

With 2 picks and a little closer game he might still get it even if they lost. Some were tipped passes bounced up in the air. Honestly if you watch the film not all were his fault. But it will unfortunately loom large.

Lets work on Super Bowl MVP. He will have more MVP chances in future years IMO.

:)

He's very good and has played great. We are thrilled to have him. Thanks for sending him our way.

:)

Jackson certainly makes more than Brock so that would technically make him more valuable. Jimlad

It will be interesting to see what happens.

I get we love Purdy here and I absolutely think he has a case for MVP but Lamar Jackson has a much stronger case than folks are portraying here. Jackson's ability to run completely changes the game for that offense combined with a significantly weaker set of other weapons to rely on make for a completely defensible case for MVP despite generally, but not exclusively, worse counting stats.

We’ve been watching a Super Bowl champion QB all year long. With Arizona winning today the 1st round bye in the playoffs is locked up. All San Fran has to do is win 2 home games and boom, SB championship here we come. And the dude played ball at Iowa State.

Let that sink in.

It really is unreal what we could be watching over the next few weeks.
