49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

As a Cyclone fan I am an enormous Brock Purdy fan. He was the best Quarterback we have ever had. He reminds me of us. He was the last guy picked and I hoped he would just make the team.

Too short, not enough arm strength, not that great of an athlete etc. Got sick with mono during prime recruitment time in high school.
Always was sold short. Nick Saban insulted him and he chose lowly ISU. He came in with a likely chip on his shoulder and was everything we needed and so much more. He represented what has been so good with Matt Campbells program. What an ambassador of our humble university. A university that has been a laughing stock for most of our history. We get made fun of by pretty much everyone. We have had fellow Iowans wish our program would be relegated to the have nots, with no seat at the big boy table, because we aren’t in the mighty big 10.

Pieces of **** like Cam Newton are celebrating his failure last night. If Mahomes, Allen etc were having the type of season he has had they would be slobbing their knobs. But all they have done is try and tear him down constantly. It pisses me off. He has handled all of the criticism with the utmost grace and humility. Making us all proud of him. It’s no wonder CMC was in tears on senior night.

I had the privilege of walking with his parents to the Alamo Bowl stadium when we were there. We happened to run into them on the way. I knew who they were. They were as nice of people as I have met and we had a great conversation. In that short time you could see where Brock gets his professionalism and his humbleness.

He is us. We are always being told our program isn’t good enough. He elevated us along with other Cyclone greats like Breece, Charlie, Will, David, Mike, Anthony. Guys that you don’t really even need to include their last name to know who we are talking about. It’s been fun.

I honestly enjoy watching the 49ers just as much as ISU athletics and that is saying a lot. I never really watched many NFL games prior to this season and its been great watching BP grow in such a short period. The dude is ballin out of his mind at the age of 23 and is going to continue to only get better. He will shake this off and move to the next.

Last night at an extended family Christmas, the sports fans were just dying to get the 49er's game on. It has been so much fun to experience this as a group over the last year or so. Who would have thought that there were probably thousands of Christmases around this state that revolved around the San Francisco 49er's football game?

This is a dumb take. Of course it was a bad game. That doesn't make a bad QB or a bad season. That's the point.
Never said he is a bad QB or has had a bad season. I said he had an awful game and played like crap compared to what we've been used to. Don't see how that is a dumb take.

Right the ship the next couple weeks and it's all but forgotten. Good chance he will have an opportunity to redeem himself in the SB against Baltimore too. SF not faring well against the AFC though.

Nfl playoffs are strange sometimes. Doesn't feel like we have a dominant team, despite there being so many blowouts. Wouldn't be surprised to see a team like buffalo or Tampa get to the superbowl.

The Purdy non-believers have been laying in the weeds and boy are they out tonight on Twitter/X.
Yeah, his first INT was pretty bad, but everything else was was a luck bounce off of a good play by the Ravens. 85% of the time a batted ball just falls to the ground, and twice it went right to the Ravens. Same with the one where his arm got hit. Just like at ISU, better OL play would help a lot.

Nobody’s ever seen anyone do what he’s doing. People overreact to things they haven’t seen before. Or things they can’t put into a pre established box. Don’t put Brock in a box.
Has any other NFL player been "more discussed" than Brock this year? I doubt it.
Step back to 262 (Mr. Irrelevant).
Imagine if a CF poster started the following day with a thread title of, "Brock Purdy will be the most discussed NFL player in 2023."
Which emoji would have prevailed - "funny" or "dumb"?
If there was an "insane" emoji? I'da run with that!

I would of hit the “lay off the meth” emoji.

The "friendly" emoji would have been amended to "friendly, but you ******* crazy" emoji.

Brock_STAR Montana Purdy had a great bounce back game.

22/28 - 230 yards - 2 touchdowns - 0 interceptions - 124.7 rating.

27 - 10 win vs Commanders.

* # 1 seed clinched and homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. Due to 49ers win, Lions loss, Eagles loss. Everything fell their way that they needed.

* Purdy 4,280 yards passing is an all time franchise record. 16/17 games with 1 left which he probably won't play. Jeff Garcia 4,278 (2000) and Steve Young 4,170 (1998) were the prior top yards marks.
