I'm mocking a terrible rebrand. Both the name and the execution.

They had so many good options...

Washington Mustangs (after the WWII fighter, not a horse)
Washington Presidents
Washington Redtails
Washington Warthogs
Washington Wolves

You know, names that would honors the Tuskegee Airmen or the history of the franchise. Instead, we ended up with what sounds like a generic create-a-team from a low-rent Madden knockoff.

Isnt the Washington owner/team getting sued by a group of tribes or native american groups that want the Redskins name brought back.

I guess I dont understand the deal with it. I would think it would be an honor, as a team name/mascot could be seen as an honor, you name sports teams after things of strength, power, admiration. Which I would think all these names and brands being whitewashed is actually worse, and is just erasing anything that is not generic or white.

ie:
Uncle Bens - Bad
Quaker Oats - good
Aunt Jemima - Bad
Mrs. Butterworth- Good
Betty Crocker - Good
Indians - Bad
Fighting Irish - good

and so on.

So if your brand isnt generic or uses a white person, its bad? Meaning there are less or no representation in brands for none white persons.

I feel the huge push to make everything PC is actually making things worse. Some people want to make everything a problem.

But thats just my opinion.

Similar to the old joke about the Washington Bullets changing their name because of the violent connotation. New name: just Bullets.

Just spitballing here. I'm pretty sure shirts, pants, pads, socks, shoes, and a helmet. Some may wear leg coverings or gloves, but that's a gametime decision.
