Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

Dix wouldn't start at UNI or Drake or about 7 other Valley schools but he's starting at Iowa and that's all you need to know about where Francis has that program in year 14 or whatever it is.
The thing with Dix is I think he has the ability to be a good player but he looks way too timid on the court like he doesn't have much self confidence. He is the best shooter they have yet he rarely shoots and instead you have Sandfort just chucking shots.

I think they were also complaining that we got the Friday evening slot while they were midday Thursday. But that’s up to the networks not the committee, and it’s a bigger deal for the fans

And WI got to play after ISU after the place filled up with red.

If the choices are 'not make tourney' or be the 8/9 seed give me the 2nd option every time.
I didn’t word that well enough lol. I’d rather make the tourney than miss it. 8/9 seed would be last choice as opposed to 7/10 or 6/11. Would be pleasantly surprised if this team is a top 16 team.

Since Huawk fans insist on counting the PIG as an NCAA appearance, that means Fran and Iowa are 4-7 in NCAA tourney over 13 years together. Iowa State is 9-9 in that same period.
Lost that game by 13 in OT. Should almost count as two losses tbh.

I have talked to Iowa fans too and told them their best bet of winning games this year is playing smaller. They wanted Freeman and Krikke in the lineup at the same time. Fran's lineups make zero sense. Krikke should be on the bench as a bench scorer because he is horrible defensively and isn't a rebounder. Start Freeman at the 5. he will go through lumps because he is a freshman but he can at least block shots and give you things Krikke can't. Put Sandfort at the 4. He is a stretch 4 in todays game. He isn't a wing or a guard, he isn't fast enough to drive by guards on offense and he isn't quick enough to guard guards on defense. Take Patrick out of the starting lineup. Have Dasonte Bowen play the point and Perks and Dix as the other guards.

Why they didn't go after more in the portal is just a failure of Fran's philosophy to basically only get HS guys which is dumb anyway because he takes this holier than thou approach that I am not going to deal with AAU coaches or other third parties in recruiting which means he is gambling on guys that aren't highly rated recruits and only a certain number of them will pan out and typically they are projects. They should have never taken Harding and instead went out and got an experienced guard.

I think it is hilarious too because some of their fans try to claim that the only reason Iowa State gets black athletes to play for ISU is because they pay them. They literally have a poster claiming the only way to get black athletes out of "urban" areas is to pay them.

Yeah there's ideal situations but I'm generally in 'in is in' mode in the current era, with the exception being the play in seeds.

On the subject, I'm impressed by how quickly the narrative changed when it comes to CMac. If you go to Hawkeye boards, you'll see posts talking about how having him on this year's roster would make such a huge difference. This is a guy who averaged 6/3/3 per game on 35% shooting. Would he run the point better than Dix? Sure. But it hasn't been that long since those fans were furious about how he was only getting his minutes due to nepotism.

Imagine the dire situation you are in if you imagine C-Mac would improve things.

Such a shame. Couldn't happen to a nicer program.

Would C-Mac even get any minutes on this Iowa State team?

Most of the PG minutes are going to our latest Point God in Tamin. Gilbert and Pav are better for the remainder. I don't think C-Mac brings anything in terms of shooting or perimeter defense that would justify him as an off-ball SG over what you get out of Gilbert, Pav, Jiggy Curt, and MM out there.

Long story. One time Dolph was caught with a hot mic making fun of Iowa's recruiting, specifically Maishe Dailey. There was also allegedly some beef due to Dolph giving his kid tickets to a Wisconsin game. Evidently he brought some Wisconsin fans with him and those seats are near Margaret. That didn't go well.
When I was watching the Iowa-Iowa State mens basketball game I noticed a hawk fan sitting almost directly behind TJ during the game. Honestly I wouldn't blame coach if he wasn't too happy about that. Seriously, who controls those tickets and how does that happen?

Edit: Never mind. I went back and looked again and they are sitting next to a guy in a loud suit, which I assume is that clown Brooks Reynolds. Guess thats my answer.

There might be occasions when we need his amazing bounce-passing skills.

100% agree. It's really really rare to be able to play two "bigs" consistently these days. Who are they going to guard? Especially if the opponent counters with a small ball lineup, which usually isn't even necessary because most starting lineups will be mismatch enough at the 4.

Krikke can maybe outscore his limitations for short short stretches Especially when the opponent rests their starting big. But that's it.

EDIT: Can you imagine the field day Hoiball would have had making Freeman OR Krikke guard ANYBODY with the Niang, Ejim, Hogue lineup??

Why be upset - especially the way this game went? If the iowa fan starts talking at the start of the game you can troll him for the next 40 minutes. Might be fun...

Or if you find it unbecoming as a coach to be trolling fans seated behind you, put the CEO on it.

I'm sure the nasty leg break was part of it but you're exactly right. You just don't see him assert himself and it leaves him in this weird in between where he plays a bunch but doesn't really get anything done while he's on the floor.

Florida A&M plays Iowa on Saturday and Iowa State on Sunday.

That should give us some good information comparing the two rivals!

Please make sure they are aware that not only do they have more money to pay players, they also spend more money on players.

There's something to be said for experience but it's tough to imagine him getting anything more than spot minutes/matchup directed stuff.

Ummm TJs offense wrecked them just fine. I'm perfectly happy with TJs tenure.

If I had been TJ, I would have asked the CEO to place himself in front of that Iowa fan & stand up the entire time so the view of Iowa's offense is blocked or make it hard for the guy to see any part of the game. Then, whenever ISU made an amazing play, have him turn around & flex at the Hokfan!

I totally get your sarcasm. BUT, just you wait, if Iowa beats them by more than we beat them, there will be many in that fan base that will use it as "evidence" that Iowa has the superior team.
