So this is the best argument I have seen against Tinsley. Does the turnover stat include the first 10 games or so of the first year where he kept bouncing balls off his teammates heads because they weren't ready for the incredible passes?Haliburton had best handle not Tinsley. To me good handle means controlling the ball without turning it over. Tinsley had some Globetrotter moves and wowed people but he also often turned it over. He was turnover prone and very low percentage shooter.

We need to define handle here.Haliburton had best handle not Tinsley. To me good handle means controlling the ball without turning it over. Tinsley had some Globetrotter moves and wowed people but he also often turned it over. He was turnover prone and very low percentage shooter.
If that's the criteria then Monte is the all time king.Haliburton had best handle not Tinsley. To me good handle means controlling the ball without turning it over. Second year TO number isn’t much different than his first year at ISU, 6 assists and 3.8 TO. Shot less than 40% overall and made around 40% of 2 points shots. So this is the best argument I have seen against Tinsley. He was probably close to the athleticism of Keshon, but had the handle of Ricky Morgan.Tim Barnes over both
I’m assuming the proj v actual in ‘21 are mislabeledThese are from Torvik.
FIRST TJ YEAR

Projected (12/09/2021) = #15

SECOND TJ YEAR

Projected (12/09/2022) = #54
Actual season finish = #29
Glad you found a way to be negative about a good gameHere is a dose of piss in your Cheerios after everyone got to enjoy the win
Iowa sucks. Compared to the 3 teams we played in Orlando Iowa would have been the worse team. And I'm not saying those teams were good.
This was our best game performance but if we are all slapping our backs over it then we'll be very disappointed in conference. Jump in metrics reflects only that we like to beat up on the weak. Throw in a real team and we wilt.
He toyed with less talented players. He did some razzle-dazzle and wowed fans. But he also took unnecessary risks as well. Many Globetrotters players can do some razzle-dazzle but this doesn’t mean they have better handles than Haliburton. Those TOs were mainly passes though. Probably like over 90% of them.
None of this has anything to do with his ability to dribble.

Tinsley was a great player but not as good as Haliburton. Tinsley was great at dribbling through traffic and getting to the basket but he often didn’t finish it or turned it over. His 2 point FG% was around 40%That's all tou think he did?
Do you think Haliburton was better with dribbling in traffic or getting to the basket?
Do think a handle includes shooting and passing? Even though it doesn't?
And, I think I remember one very important missed final shot?!?Tinsley was a great player but not as good as Haliburton. Tinsley was great at dribbling through traffic and getting to the basket but he often didn’t finish it or turned it over. His 2 point FG% was around 40%
Yes, he did everything but make the shot. I remember more about him turning it over 5 times. And, I think I remember one very important missed final shot?!?

Can anyone just stop and know what the hell handle is before making an argument? Haliburton could very well have been a better player, shooter, passer, defender, rebounder, bench sitter, gum chewer and shoe tier.Tinsley was a great player but not as good as Haliburton. Haliburton is not a fancy dribbler like Tinsley was . He doesn’t dribble between defender’s legs because he doesn’t take unnecessary risks. He can’t possibly do what he is doing without superior ball handling (high assists with very low turnovers). Can anyone just stop and know what the hell handle is before making an argument? But, he did not have Tinsley's ability to dribble the basketball.
That's not what "handle" is. Ball security is a factor, but handle is more about a creativity and connection with the ball. A tight handle as opposed to a loose handle. If you have a tight handle, you're capable of plays with higher degrees of difficulty (fancy) while still being effective. If you have a loose handle, you can be just as effective, but you take fewer risks and your degree of difficulty is lower.Haliburton is not a fancy dribbler like Tinsley was .
