*** Official Iowa vs IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

I believe the player fouled has to shoot them. You only have a choice if it's a Tech. This was an intentional so we didn't have that choice

99.9 percent sure on that
We watched the recording. They were both ruled intentional. #2 bearhugged BRE two different times and got called for both.

As for all the Gilbert/Tinsley comparisons...
IMO, Tinsley was all about misdirection and finesse
Gilbert is a freaking freight train headed full tilt for the basket.
Perfectly stated. If Jamal knocked you down, it was probably because his moves made you trip on your own feet. If Keshon knocks you down, it was probably because you were in the way.

So I subscribe to ESPN+ but I still can't watch the replay because my "cable provider" doesn't have ESPNU. What a total joke.

I have Youtube TV which does have ESPNU and right after I couldn't replay it.

I'd guess it'll be up on YT at some point. Here's a guy that's got a few games including recent ones.

And his team totally takes on his personality. His teams have always been extremely mentally week. They don't handle adversity well and are easy to "out tough". If you watch them, they all take on the attitude of their coach. Nothing is their fault, it's all the refs fault. The difference is especially jarring when they play Iowa State and you see a team that doesn't pout, doesn't make excuses, and just plays their tails off every possession.
I guess Caitlin Clark is dating the young McCaferry. With the genes those two carry can you imagine the whining, bellyaching kids that they would produce? If it's a girl it would a Karen on steroids.

Imagine what their kids would be like when the internet goes down.....

I don't know that there is a great comp for Gilbert. He's not really a PG for one, and his first step quickness and ability to blow by a defender is not like anything another ISU PG or combo guard has had in a long time.

That's one thing about the ESPN tourney that I think people need to accept is that Gilbert got out of control a lot, and it wasn't a good tournament for him overall. But he has an ability to get to the rim and either finish or get to the line that instantly makes this ISU offense the best TJ has had by a mile. We've got to ride that and let him start figuring out when to pick his spots, when to kick, when to dish, etc.

The other thing that jumped out is that even though Iowa is slow and sucks defensively, that zone press has given a lot of good teams fits. This ISU team can put a lineup out there that you just aren't going to press. A lineup of Lipsey, Gilbert and either Pavs or C. Jones is going to destroy a press and get scoring opportunities off of it, particularly Gilbert. They don't just handle the press, they make you pay for pressing. Lipsey and Gilbert are elite press-breakers, and Pavs and C. Jones are very good, particularly when they go small and they are the 3rd guard.
