Time for a Real Discussion About Caitlin Clark

I know that nobody likes a bunch of reviews breaking up game flow, but it sure might help clean up some of the flopping if a coach could call for a review of a foul once per game and if they overturn the foul and/or call a flop technical they retain the right to call for another challenge of this type of play. If they don't the coach loses a timeout and the opportunity to challenge again. With just one available coaches would likely only use it when it is obvious or the player is adamant that it isn't even borderline but it could help clean up flopping somewhat.
Only issue is good luck getting ANY official to admit they were wrong and overturn a judgement call. You would just be wasting timeouts. It's akin to spotting the football and reviewing what is clearly a bad spot. Ref is never going to admit they missed it or got duped by a flop.

I disagree. Don't you think the official who called that foul last night would rather the call was correct? It is clear that it wasn't a foul but the ref had a bad angle to see that. I'm sure she would like for players to have to think twice about trying to fool the refs so blatantly.

Also, don't they overturn possession, goal tending and other calls by review? I think you ascribe a bit too much ego in all of this. They are more likely to want to get the call right and not give that player the benefit of the doubt in the future.

In the last couple years we've had Fran chase a ref down a tunnel and question the integrity of the game, players talk about refs by name to the media, Brian Ferentz berating referees and having to get "reprimanded", Parker grabbing his crotch by a ref, the Brands brothers acting like maniacs.
There's a leadership issue at Iowa, IMO. I feel like the new AD has the temperament to hopefully clean that up.
And a football coach who had to be restrained from getting into it with a fan who suggested he was on the hot seat. Not to mention a few "Fran like" meltdowns on the sidelines the last few years. JP4CY you must be worried about leadership issues at ISU too?

I was sitting on the floor last night and towards the end Caitlin got called for traveling. We called timeout and Caitlin walked to half court to complain to the ref about the call. I was behind the ref in her line of sight and I started doing the traveling motion. She yelled something at me and pointed to the video board. I think it might have been watch the replay. Then she backpeddled to the huddle clapping her hands at me. They came out of the timeout and she made a pass for a hoop off a steal and she stared and me and made a head nod motion like how u like that. Very strange that that minor of a thing triggered her like that.

Ego.

Seems even the most competitive athletes know it’s best to just ignore the fans.

Were you wearing LSU gear? (Jk):D

Iowa is 24-4 against ISU in Football, Wrestling, Men's Bball and Women's bball dating back to 2016. That is an incredible run and doubt it will ever be topped by either school again.

Good luck tonight!
Is it not amazing how EIU fans that do everything in their power to downgrade ISU, call us Clowns, the school is located in Lames and the rest of the garbage, but then they throw out a stat like this when they do not even consider ISU a rival and their little brother.

If you are ignoring ISU, then why does this stat matter, are you not supposed to win a vast majority of the games, because in their minds, even taking the field or court with ISU is somehow beneath them?

I've found that most Hawkeye fans are beyond comprehension to anyone not also a Hawkeye fan.

They're only going to get worse. Football is their identity and the likelihood of them making their conference championship game becomes near impossible with the loss of divisions. They'll also probably rack up more losses under that new format. They'll be all in HARD in the CyHawk rivalry games to have something to pound their chest about.

It is also possible that the conference games get easier for us with the loss of OU and UT and we may start having better records. I know it is all speculation, but if these things happen...

For all the time we spend belittling the hawks on this website...this fact (85% winning percentage) proves the hawks consistently have better coaches and athletes than us in the four major sports. Losing all three meetings so far in our stadiums again this year is frustrating and disapointing.

Maybe the hawk fans rightly have earned their arrogance.
Let's talk. This is a single game. But did you watch it? You look at Iowa's team tonight and tell me they have better athletes with a straight face. Go ahead....I dare ya! Tell me about their superior men's basketball coach. I'd really like to hear you justify that.

A lot of people have said Caitlin could contribute if she played on a men’s team. I have always said that is BS, but I changed my mind after tonight.

You are completely delusional if you’re going to compare the behavior of your coaching staffs to ours.
