Time for a Real Discussion About Caitlin Clark

ISU played hard last night, but we weren't exactly playing out of our minds. We made a ton of mistakes and really struggled to finish at the rim. Not sure what Clark's comments at halftime were all about. It was actually two pretty evenly-matched teams playing a very competitive game.

Obviously I'm no fan of Iowa, but taking the rivalry blinders off and just objectively watching Iowa, they aren't a top 5 team. They have the best player on the court every night, but the supporting cast isn't there. When you have one player (regardless of her talent) score all of your points in a quarter in a really tight game, you have roster issues.

Iowa is good. I think they're more top 15-20ish instead of top 5. If the supporting cast gets better throughout the season they can be top 10.
I imagine that was because Audi hit her first career 3. Yes it was her first, but she was 1-2 and she passed up other wide open opportunities. It certainly wasn't worth highlighting.

Iowa has a pretty good big coming in next year though in Heiden.
Sure, but she will be a freshman and adjusting to a different level of play. She won't have an established post-player to play behind like Stuelke had with Czinano, or Czinano had with Megan Gustafson.

You also have to find a defensive stopper to replace Marshall, and a a do the dirty work player to replace Martin. Iowa's bench didn't show any of that last night.

Maybe but Crooks seems to be adjusting to the different level of play alright.

I am? Not the guy that is ******** about CC's shot volume when you guys had a player that shot close to the same amount. I also don't like the ******** at the refs that she does and can understand the complaining about that (she should've gotten at least 1 T). But shooting too much at the percentage she shoots?
Joens career shot attempts: 14.7
Clark career shot attempts: 19.4

CC is teaching well...

I know that nobody likes a bunch of reviews breaking up game flow, but it sure might help clean up some of the flopping if a coach could call for a review of a foul once per game and if they overturn the foul and/or call a flop technical they retain the right to call for another challenge of this type of play. If they don't the coach loses a timeout and the opportunity to challenge again. With just one available coaches would likely only use it when it is obvious or the player is adamant that it isn't even borderline but it could help clean up flopping somewhat.

Iowa is 24-4 against ISU in Football, Wrestling, Men's Bball and Women's bball dating back to 2016. That is an incredible run and doubt it will ever be topped by either school again.

Good luck tonight!

We know d-bag…. now go away.

Some of us are not happy about that fact at all and want that to change…. but some ISU fans don’t care and just blame it on Iowa wanting it more, or some other lame excuse.

It needs to change. Even years when we have the better team, we still F this game up somehow. VERY frustrating!!

I'm thinking ISU gets one back tonight FWIW.

Many of us have just moved on to other things (like winning conference records and Fiesta Bowls in football, NCAA tourneys, etc.), and in other situations ISU just wasn't very good while Iowa was at least decent.

ISU women's basketball has had some down years in that time frame, ISU football doesn't like September, men's basketball was absolutely awful and at times dysfunctional. Wrestling had similar patterns.

For all the time we spend belittling the hawks on this website...this fact (85% winning percentage) proves the hawks consistently have better coaches and athletes than us in the four major sports. Losing all three meetings so far in our stadiums again this year is frustrating and disapointing.

Maybe the hawk fans rightly have earned their arrogance.

It doesn't prove that at all. How thick are you?
