Time for a Real Discussion About Caitlin Clark

The ref complaining is a pattern. Does the Iowa staff even try and get her to stop doing that?
Why would they? She convinced the refs to change an OB call and rarely sees repercussions for confronting refs. It works out more often than it hurts the team, so carry on.

CC averaged 2 more shot attempts last season than Ashley Joens did. And made 6% more. Were you outraged at Ashley's shooting? CC also averaged 6 more assists per game. But let's not let facts or stats get in the way of the ***** session.

You need to try harder.

South Carolina would beat them by 20
I watch a ton of women's bball and I truly don't believe this. They have struggled from time to time with teams. They just pull away in the end. Their game against Duke was very close, Duke tied it up in the 4th and then just fell apart. Kind of like ISU did last night.

In the last couple years we've had Fran chase a ref down a tunnel and question the integrity of the game, players talk about refs by name to the media, Brian Ferentz berating referees and having to get "reprimanded", Parker grabbing his crotch by a ref, the Brands brothers acting like maniacs.
There's a leadership issue at Iowa, IMO. I feel like the new AD has the temperament to hopefully clean that up.

This is the second time I've watched Iowa. First time I've watched Iowa State. Iowa State is really young and not that great. I think they will get better as the season goes. Iowa? Good team. One woman show though. Take Clark off of their team and they stink. There is probably a reason she is taking so many shots this year. She still passes the ball well too though. But yeah, Iowa without Clark? Yikes.

Re: the comments of CC complaining to the refs and the coaches telling her to stop, I don't see this happening. She has been doing it for years. I never watched her in high school, but I have heard horror stories of stuff she did. I understand she is an elite athlete, however to act the way she acts, to me, would be embarrassing.

You could be correct but against other top tier teams imo her supporting cast is worse than last year by a wide margin. She can only shoot the ball so much, especially as the competition stiffens. It’ll be great to see them finish 3rd in the big 10!

My post game analysis:

Basketball is a team sport. Well, except for Iowa women's basketball

If the Iowa fans on here would have been paying any attention at over the years…. yes, a lot of us ISU fans have complained about Ashley Joens shooting too much.

In fact, it was fairly well known that some of her teammates didn’t like it either. In games where she shot less, ISU tended to play better.

So we can admit such things. Can Iowa fans say the same about CC?

There’s always going to be some rivalry blinders with an Iowa player, but if CC had the demeanor of Keegan Murray, for example, people here would have more admiration for her as a local kid doing great things.

But there’s being competitive, then there’s…that. That type of behavior just makes a person unlikeable. Doesn’t matter the sport, profession, gender, and so on.

I don't watch them much but there's been plenty of Iowa football players that are very good and are generally well respected with how they carry themselves as well.

I'm just not sure what's 'must watch' about someone toxifying what was otherwise a really entertaining game.

Go back and read some of the WBB threads from last season. A lot of us weren't happy the amount of Joens ball we played last year.

Was there a reason Iowa didn't do better in getting a better scorer in the portal last year?
