Transfer Portal Tracker

It’s not a great sign none of the players from ISU have found a spot yet. It’s going to be tough for Norton and Sanders. RBS just aren’t a high demand, much like NFL.
The portal has been open for 3 days. There are hundreds of guys/the extreme vast majority of guys who are in the portal are still undeclared. Norton and Sanders are both getting P5 offers. They’ll find the right fit for them in due time

If you don’t know where you are going before it opened, you are literally one of 600+ players in the same position as you. Maybe they just haven’t been announced yet but it’s not a good sign.

I am not real tuned in to the portal but I would guess a majority of those entered in the portal haven’t found a spot yet.
The big names have many schools interested. Just wonder where a guy like Q Adams who was none tape ends up.

Many players who go into the portal do end up having to go down a level - or sometimes even to the FCS. For some its worth it because they simply want to play and feel like it; will give them a chance to show what they can do.

For others, they will 100% regret it and for a few, it will lead them getting paid at a level that will help set them up for the future

My favorite was the LB who decommitted from ISU at the last minute for Baylor. His dad came on CF and lectured us about how Golf told his son to do that and we were a bunch of bad people for opposing gods will. What a load of crap excuse.
LOL I missed that one.

Per the always reliable Wikipedia, there are 133 FBS schools, which works out to about 11,300 scholarships and up to about 14k on rosters. A ~10% transfer rate doesn’t seem insane.
Agree. 10% for "legit" transfers (homesick, playing at wrong level up or down, looking for playing time, coach left/fired/jerk, change major, girlfriend moving, etc) doesn't seem too crazy.

Wonder what the % of regular students who transfer or quit school is?

3 days into the portal is pretty significant. It’s just the first wave too.

It's the first wave and the big wave. Transfers are competing with uncommitted HS recruits for open scholarships.

Sure there will be a few more as bowl season unwinds, but then the next wave will be after spring ball.

IMO your characterization of the transfer market is off. Sure a few guys are looking to make serious NIL money. And a few more elite HS recruits are looking for a fresh start and snaps. But most guys see the reality that if they want to play, they need to move down a level(s) to G5 or FCS. And sure some guys will say the combination of school and football time commitment isn't worth it.

And then there are good G5/FCS players that want to test themselves at P5 schools.

But that's just life and reality- a blanket characterization is an oversimplification.
