Most Iowa fans I know have accepted the fact that this years teams just isn't good and that the schedule drove the majority of their wins but these turd burglars aren't there yet.

This is the laziest argument out there... No actual serious Iowa State fan will say that Iowa is a bad football team. If they do, they're way too biased. Iowa is year in and year out solid to good and has had ISU's number ever since CMC has gotten here. It's just what is is.
Under CMC, we'd be at the top of the Big 10 West every year. Would we win it every year? No, that's a ridiculous statement. CMC has placed ISU at the top of the Big 12 almost every year and it's been a better conference than the Big 10 West every year since he's been here.
Go ahead and show any ranking system you'd like. We will then run the same analytics. I would bet the general point remains that Iowa's conference schedule was horrendously bad

Iowa beat two teams this year that have a ranked win. Minnesota beat Iowa and Iowa State beat Kansas State. That's horrible. Minnesota is the only team in the Big 10 West that beat a ranked team.
The Big 10 West had two teams all year that were ranked, Iowa throughout the year and Wisconsin week 1. Other than that, nada. That's absolutely pathetic.

I think this is pretty fair assessment. Though like with Iowa the crossovers would be huge and ultimately maybe decide where exactly you finish.
I'm happy all of my Iowa friends are younger. They are diehards but they think Iowa is a joke.
It is so interesting how the narrative has shifted from the middle of the season to now amongst their fan base. I get it, they keep winning, so might as well embrace it. But it has been hilarious to watch the whiplash happen in real time. "Yeah, the offense sucks, but Kirk is a god damned genius for continuously squeaking out 3 point wins against Illinois and Northwestern!" They are a national punchline and so few actually comprehend that.
