Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

Iowa's even worse defensively this year than past. Krikke gives up as many as he scores and there's no ball pressure. I normally hate the 2-3 zone but I'm not sure hoping for cold nights from opponents isn't route to go with this group. Offensively Iowa's business as usual.

Ironic that Iowa MBB has lots of offense and no defense, whereas the football team has defense and no offense.

I have a question. I haven't watched ISU this year, but have seen that Omaha hasn't played much. Anyone know what's going on? Seems like most five star basketball players come in right off the bat and put up good numbers and are one and dones. I'm guessing Omaha won't be a one and done at this point, which could be an awesome thing for ISU in the long run, but it is still surprising to see such a highly touted recruit not get much run.

From my view it looks like Omaha is still adjusting to the college game. I think it's way too early to say whether or not he will or should be a one and done. He's certainly athletic, so you would assume the rest of his game will come around sooner rather than later.

I’ve said a couple times I’m beyond baffled with the Omaha situation. He has incredible athleticism, but I think it could be a few things.

1. Not going back to his prep school for his senior year really stunted his growth to get him ready to be up to speed with D1.

Or

2. He may have been rated too high on the recruiting formats that give us expectations of a player.

Either way, I hope he can get it together before conference play because we definitely need what we as fans expected he would bring us. I really never thought he would be a 25 ppg guy, but I was hoping as a 5 star top 15 recruit he would come in and be able to put up 10 to 15 points a game and make some great defensive plays with his length. I’ll cross my fingers.

Got it and yes it is premature and wish Iowa had him.

Haven't watched, but have seen..... hmmm. So is it safe to assume you watched the radio then?

I don't think it's number 1. There are several examples of kids from large Iowa high schools stepping in and playing effectively in year one.

While Omaha and Milan play the same position, they are polar opposites in their style of play.

Omaha is incredibly athletic but limited in terms of offensive skills. Milan is incredibly skilled on the offensive end but not exceptionally athletic.

Give them each a little bit of time and both will be outstanding players.

I have questions about whether he is a true one and done, and I also have questions about whether or not it would be a good thing for ISU if he is not a one and done. I am not pressing the Xavier Foster button on him yet, but so far I am struggling to see what the pro scouts have reportedly been seeing. So far I find myself thinking how on earth did he trick enough people into letting him in to the McDonald's AA game

Not #2 as he excelled in AAU ball, was selected for McD’s AA game (not a lot of undeserving players on that roster) and was selected for Team USA U19 roster. There’s not a lot of guys misranked in the Top 25 as they have had plenty of looks and plenty of eyes on them.

Also, he missed pretty much the whole summer of training and workouts with the team while with Team USA (which is huge for development)

He’ll figure it out and be fine. Just give him some time

Kirk teaches it some.

Well, to be honest. I was thinking about skipping passes off of the turf. But you know, skipping them off of the crotch of Herky works too. I remember that clip and if you continue, the announcers mention that Herky is bent over and walking funny . . . .
