We all watched Brock Purdy play four years. We all love Brock. But to say he was technically consistent, especially early in his career here, just isn't true. He improved a great deal in making his progressions and footwork, and accuracy of his deeper throws from when he started.
And he improved a lot more once he got some NFL level coaching, both before and after the draft. I recall a story last year about all the work he got at some QB whisperer/consultant. His footwork and throwing motion improved and added 5mph to his throws - that's a TON.

The reason I remember this is we all b!tched about how QBs regressed under Manning, and this article was seen as some proof that the program wasn't developing QBs well.

Found the story:
SI Story Purdy

So is Rocco Brock yet? No. Could he become Brock-good? It's possible, but that is a hell of a high bar to measure against. But I wouldn't bet against Rocco, despite that high bar.

Rocco seems like a much better decision maker at this point in his career.

Brock was one of my favorite Cyclones, but he had the tendency to make me throw things at my TV throughout his career by inexplicable decisions.

Uhhh.... no. Mahomes is a finished product. He may adjust his game as he ages or if he gets injured, etc, but in terms of development, yeah, he's done and developed.
Mahomes has reached a level that few QB ever get too, players like Elway, Manning, Brady and others at the top of their game. Within a second Mahomes can read the defense and know where to throw the ball too, and like Brady has the sense of when the pocket is starting to collapse and slide to one side or the another to avoid the rush. He still makes mistakes, but when he does like in the Denver games, he instantly realized he should have put more air under the ball, and he rarely repeats the mistake. When he is finished if he can stay healthy, he will go down as one of the top two or three QB's ever to play the sport.

Brock definitely had ELITE self-confidence, didn't he? That Brett Farve "there is no spoon I am inevitable" to him.
