Transfer Portal Tracker

Sorry if this thread is suppose to be strictly ISU transfers but I saw this tweet and thought it was worth mentioning. Just shows you the amount of money that is going around. Ward isn't a bad qb but 1 million for a qb that lead a team 5-7 is insane to me.

At the end of the day this has to mean more young QBs transfer away from top programs.

Just this guy and KSU Howard likely going to top 15-25ish programs to start and then you figure there are lots of returning stud QBs. Some good players are going to have to transfer out when these guns get hired. It's not like there are 50 elite programs and it seems like about half of the top 20 is trying to bring in a proven QB annually.

Heacock will be the DC as long as he wants. He makes over a million per year. And it is his defense. Rumors he may retire and enjoy life. Scheelhaase will be wise to stay a couple more before looking to move up. OC at a P5 with several young breakout freshmen players on offense and Ryan Clanton as OL coach. You ride on that potential for success. Become a big name.

Now days, nothing really will surprise me. Given the new "pay a coach tons with a guaranteed buyout" i would never fault a coordinator from locking that in (as someone's "luster" could also wear off with a bad year or two).

The transfer portal is wild though with NIL. Like the KSU QB, totally get why he would want to go....likely could get a decent payday as a proven QB. But then again, also feels like people like to be "recruited" and this plays into that.

I'd LOVE to get a podcast from what this looks like behind the scenes....like is someone's uncle calling Blum to say "my kid needs more" or how that communication looks like from coaches/Blum (for us, that is)...but also always wonder what prompts players to jump right now (is it THEIR assumption of playing time, something coaches share, etc?)

I used to teach at Taco Tech. Lubbock is a long way from ANYTHING. 5 hours to OKC is your closest touch to civilization, unless you count the similarly-sized and similarly-boring Amarillo just 2 hours north. The people in Lubbock are friendly enough but it might be the most boring quarter-million-sized city in the United States.

I spent an entire weekend at an interview just north of Lubbock in Plainview. I was looking for my flight out almost as soon as I landed. That place suuuuuucked.

It's not the end of the world, but you can see it from there.
Been to Lubbock a few times. Once you get out of town a mile it’s almost like you went back in time.

Drove back to Ames from Lubbock once during a snow storm, Took off around 10 am got home like at 2 the next morning.

Wasn’t there a huge dairy that caught fire north of Lubbock last year? I do remember another time driving up around the Hereford area and that was all you saw were these huge dairy farms.

I get your thought process on this. Dekkers (when at his absolute best) can be better than Rocco, probably more gifted in the arm strength department, etc

I think after a season of tape on Rocco this is clear though. Rocco's floor and baseline is MUCH higher than Dekkers. Consistency is what makes a great QB and Rocco is consistent. He makes better decisions, scans defenses quicker, and usually makes the right read.

I personally think he's all big 12 next year. If not for Quin Ewers/Gabriel he would've been there this year.

Absolute best? When have we seen it? I actually think we saw what his best was, and it involved making poor decisions and throwing picks.

that was so strange. what a shite effort on that play. should have easily tackled sama from behind.
That's how some of these players tackle now. They want to make Instagram or Tiktok by laying someone out instead of form tackling like they were taught.

He found out it doesnt work so well though when you are already behind the ball carrier. It's garbage football and about time someone got benched for it.

It means more of everyone is going to leave. Addison from Pitt to USC, etc...

its the brave new world.
