F*CK IOWA

Kirk is still talking about the invalid fair catch call. This clip was from after the Nebraska win

Try getting more than 12 yards of offense in the 2nd half.

Or rather than play the victim card at the moment (which then the entire Iowa team emulated as well), move the ball 20-30 yards to set up the game winning field goal. They had already lost the game the way the team and loser fans were acting even though a field goal was in reach.

As was said, it was the correct (albeit rare) call. It is truly pathetic they cannot let it go.

It’s incredible how much this still sticks in the craw of Kirk and Iowa fans, particularly when it’s been explained over and over again that 1) it was the correct call, 2) no, it wasn’t a penalty (ineligible for review) and 3) yes, the replay officials have the ability to make that call even if the onfield officials didn’t tell Kirk that.

It almost seems like Kirk is mostly mad that he was told they were only reviewing whether DeJean stepped out, and he thinks it was some conspiracy that the officials made up a reason to reverse the TD. Which is really stupid, if you take two seconds to think about it.

Anyway, Kirk should stop by ISU and take a look at the Big XII wall of apology letters before he starts getting all wound up about getting screwed when the call was correct.
Speaking of sticking in the craw, ISU has a Big XII wall of apology letters.

And yet, nobody employed by the university ever publicly complained about any of those calls A MONTH LATER. This is beyond pathetic by Kirk. AND it's still the correct call. At this point, he's just complaining that he wasn't gifted yet another undeserved win. What a sad human being.

That’s because Iowa State has actually been on the wrong side of actual incorrect calls on many, many occasions.
Kirk thinks he was on the wrong side of an incorrect call, but he still cannot comprehend the correct call was made and he still can’t get over it nearly a month later.

Unfortunately, Kirk’s actions will only add fuel to the fire for Iowa fans who also 1) still cannot understand the rule and 2) cannot let this play go and 3) do not understand Iowa could had just advanced the ball 20 or so yards just like they did against Nebraska (and with more time on the clock) to get into field goal range and win

And also, those apology letters were because the officials got it wrong. This situation is a correct replay call getting b!tched about by Iowa a month later.

Here’s a similar situation: Noel’s long kick return against Kansas that was blown dead because the official saw a phantom foot out of bounds, and we didn’t even get any points that possession. That was wrongly played by the officials (they should have let it run and checked it in replay, just like they did with DeJean’s return) … but is that a situation where CMC is still profanely complaining at press conferences? Think what a win against Kansas might have done for Big12 CCG implications at the time, or the prospect of a potential 8 or 9 win season … but by and large Cyclone fans complained all Saturday night but then shrugged and moved on, because it’s Iowa State, after all.

That wall of apology letters is because Iowa State actually did get screwed, and the Big 12 admitted it. Iowa did not get screwed in the least, and Kirk and his fans are still getting spicy over it.

Seriously. There was a highly up voted comment on the game thread that said iowa would be 11-1 if it weren't for a bad penalty call. They still can't figure out that it wasn't a penalty, and it wasn't an incorrect call. You don't get to just change the rules because your player did something cool.

And remember, the big 10 investigated the play and say there indeed should had been a penalty on the play… on Iowa for leaping. If the officials called that penalty like they should had, Minnesota would had been given an automatic first down (infraction occurred before the kick) and Minnesota then would had run out the clock

It's too bad the iowa media didn't respond with this, "I understand you still aren't happy with the correct call from a month ago. Can you explain to us, and America how you still had the ball with plenty of time, with the wind, and couldn't advance 20 yds or so for a potential game winning kick try?"

11-1 or 10-2. Doesn't make a difference.

Any other 10-2 team would be in the top 10 in the AP Coaches Poll or close to it right now. Hell, they got TULANE ahead of Iowa. That's because people know that Iowa a team running on two tires instead of four (or three tires counting special teams). Not even sure why they are ahead of Kansas State -- and I hate Kansas State. Kansas State lost by 3 at No. 10 Missouri and 3 in overtime at No. 7 Texas. Did the loss to Okey State knock them down that much?

They haven't played any great teams except one and they got their a*s handed to them.

I’m surprised Kirk is still whining about this. Seems out of character for him. If they pull the huge upset next week, they can whine some more as it may be the difference in a CFP appearance. Until then, it’s a waste of breath.

Let’s pretend Kirk was in front of unbiased reporters and that question was asked

Kirk: “There wasn’t plenty of time left. We had to play in desperation mode”
Media: “Kirk, there was over a minute left.”
Kirk: “Well, fortunately we were able to gain those twenty yards today since we had more time to do it.”
Media: “Um, Kirk… Iowa took the ball over with under 20 seconds to go”
Kirk: “Huh? That’s horse $&@!. We had enough time to run the ball today to get into range”
Media: “Yes, your first play gained 22 yards on the ground. Why didn’t you try running the ball at the end vs Minnesota?”
Kirk: “Let me show you how we do things at Iowa” (proceeds to throw water bottles towards media members). “Don’t mess with Iowa. This press conference is over.” (Proceeds to walk out). “Oh one more thing before I go. Everyone stand up. Turn towards the East. Now wave.”

Kirk needs to retire at season end so he and Brian can cry in their cheerios every morning

Have we ever had a head coach still lamenting a correct call over a month after the fact? I mean, if I was an Iowa fan I'd probably love this, but it's also ridiculous considering all the **** we take from Iowa fans when it comes to whining about the officials.
Yeah. But the difference is they are wrong, so that makes it ok. Or something like that.

Wow... I cannot believe KF is still that upset about that call... especially since it was 1000% correct.

The thing that drives me insane about KF and most Iowa fans I've seen... they have not even bothered to take the time to research what the call even was that was made on the play. They still have no frickin' clue what was called.

KF even showed yesterday that he had no idea what the call was that was made in the game. Hasn't even bothered to investigate it or understand the rule... but yet he'll go on a profanity laced tirade a month later whining and crying about it. Do your homework dumba**! You look like an idiot.

I would have sent 100 bucks to any media member that would have asked him about the flag that wasn't thrown on the play against Iowa that was blatantly obvious.

And Kirk is complaining about a call that was correctly made a month later.
Probably first sign of Alzheimer’s if that’s all he can remember. Just keep him chewing gum on the sidelines a couple more years. Waiting to see what kind money other schools will throw at Phil Parker after the season.

I still don't see how KF will work for this new AD that fired his son? I guess $$$ is all that matters to him if he does?

IMO though... he only will coach 2 more football games for Iowa. That's why he's getting so choked up after these games.... he knows there aren't many left.
