Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

The Iowa football program isn't going to have lightning strike a third time... I'm not saying they are going to be terrible buy they are going to feel the pains of some down years. Iowa has THRIVED on soft schedules against putrid offenses. They won't get away with ball control offense in the revamped Big Ten and people are going to find out next year that maybe Iowa's defense isn't nearly as good as they thought.

The "hit rate" on coaches that make a successful jump from mid major to P5 is really low. I'm not saying DeVries can't do it though because IMO it's all about the right situation. Look at TJ,. Iowa State is a program that he has no problem selling and I can see DeVries pulling that off at Iowa. Even with he connections it's hard to make the jump though because the level of play you see on a given night is MUCH different.

The first time I saw those numbers my initial reaction was that there has to be something goofy going on with what is being recorded as a recruiting expense between the two programs. Just from a pure numbers standpoint those reported numbers can't be accurate.

Definitely money not spent on anger management.

I think DeVries would kill it at Iowa. I hope he never gets the chance.

I also think many of the mid-major coaches jump way to soon. They jump when their stock is high, which is good, but usually they don't have enough time to learn how to be a head coach. It takes time. Keno Davis jumped way too soon and look at him now. I think if DeVries wants a P5 job he would have much more success at Creighton than Iowa because he was at Creighton for a lot of years and knows that school.

Ball control offense? Iowa doesn't have that.

Tough to say on next year's defense it looks like we lose a lot though. Probably 7 starters which includes Dejean as I'd be surprised if he's not gone. The offense getting better could help the defense though because right now they're no help. Next years defense won't mean past couple weren't great though

Serious question but why don't these kids leave? What does Fran say or do to keep dead weight in the program? In today's era of college hoops it's insane how few kids transfer out and I don't men that in a good way.
