Really I still bring up the powder puff schedule that KSU had in the 90s etc to pad their win column. Some years playing multiple fcs teams and multiple G5s.
We still remind Iowa that their schedule is weak, and has been for years.
I think bigger, regional, and historic matchups are more important that ISU vs UCF, or ISU vs Houston, but thats just me I guess. I believe that ISU vs KSU history means something and much more than ISU vs Cinci etc. But I guess thats too old school, and believe that either you protect everyones rivals or none, not really a fair deal to protect a handful of teams rivals and not others.
I also think losing games like NU vs ISU, MU vs ISU, and now KSU vs ISU on annual basis has been bad for ISU and for football in general.
