F*CK IOWA

Iowa does this sh!t all the time along with jumping over the long snapper on FG/extra point attempts. It's amazing how rarely they get penalized for it.
Bill if you were a ref I think you'd throw 80 flags a game. I'm not going to go back to the play in question but if you slow down football and review everything there's probably a flag somewhere on over half the plays.

Gap or no gap he tried to leap over the "wall". Can't do that. Should've been a penalty.
Wrong.

Rule 9-1-11-c states “that no defensive player who is inside the tackle box may try to block a punt by leaving his feet in an attempt to leap directly over an opponent.”

However, it is not a foul if the player attempts to leap through or over the gap between players, and it is not a foul if the player tries to block the punt by jumping straight up in the air without attempting to leap over the opponent.

The Iowa player never attempted to leap directly over a player. He leapt into the gap and when he was halfway through the gap the Minny player blocked the side of his body.

LOL I called out the f*ckery Kirk and Iowa pull on special teams so I want a call on every play? Call me crazy for expecting Iowa to have to play by the same rules as everyone else....

Correction: Iowa player was directly in front of a Minnesota player when he left his feet. The Iowa player tried to leap around the Minnesota player. That is still an infraction, as confirmed with the Big 10.

LOL, he clearly leapt through the gap and the Minny player caught him on the way through on the side of his body.

Confirmed by Fleck.

One of the lowest penalized team in the NCAA year after year. Guess they get away with a lot then according to ISU fans.

Humor me for a minute...if there was just a gap there, then what was he leaping over?
He really didn't leap over anything, but if he was it would be the gap. He attempted to leap through the gap that was there and got clipped by the Minny player on the side of his body as he was trying to get through. There were only two Minny players as part of their punt shield. A lot of teams use three and thus no gap. The two minny players were pretty far apart.

At this point, he's starting his leap and he's clearly within the frame of the Minnesota player. Therefore, he's leaping into the space above the Minnesota player, which is a penalty.

All my Iowa friends agree with fact that if Iowa had an offense, then the "controversial call" is a moot point. They all agree that Brian needs to go without a doubt. Nothing happens with Kirk until they have new AD. I guess the big donors don't want to help with the buyout.

Iowa is the fifth least penalized team in the country, and yet Iowa fans think there’s some vast conspiracy by the refs to ruin Iowa’s season.

King of screen shots is back. The Minny player is also moving to his right as well in an attempt to close the gap that was there. The Iowa player is not attempting to leap over the player and was shooting for the gap. Which is why he got caught on the side of his body.

The Iowa player is sprinting and then leapt for the gap and never attempted to leap over the blocker, which is why I think it was a good no call.

Again, intent does not matter. What is it with Iowa fans and completely ignoring what the rule says.

Minnesota had established his position before the Iowa player leapt. It's still a penalty.

I’m sorry. Where did Fleck confirm this? All we know is the big 10 confirmed 1) the Iowa player should had been called for leaping and 2) the “invalid fair catch” was the correct call. Everything else is just your opinion, which means absolutely nothing. Media members won’t come to you and ask your your opinion, just like they won’t come to me and ask for my opinion. Which is why rational people here are using information as confirmed by representatives of officials/conferences.
I get this is hard for Iowa fans to comprehend. Which is why this is still being discussed 5 days later!!

Next time Iowa fans want to complain about officiating, complain when the wrong call was actually made….

LOL, why is he still moving to his side then, also remember the Iowa player is in a dead sprint. He saw the gap and leapt for it, in no instance did he jump over him. He was to the side of him when he got hit.
