Flip it around, if that had happened to ISU yesterday, how many people on here would be saying the refs got it right and it was the correct call? Very few would be, yes according to the rule book he made an invalid fair catch signal, but crap like that happens all the time, and is never called. The difference was this time the kid scored a touchdown.
Did the official throw his beanbag down indicating the play was dead marking the spot of the ball, why was the official not blowing his whistle after it was caught, saying he had called a fair catch.? Why did they allow the play to continue at all if there was a fair catch?
We all loved that it happened to EIU, I know I do, but damn, we can also admit, it was a little shady, but by the book. I will try to remember that the next time something like that happens to ISU. The refs called it according to the rule book, and therefore its correct.
