In memoriam of Brian Ferentz as Iowa's OC

Have you seen Iowa's offense? They can't take any game for granted.
Yep. Our D is good, but the games will be close and all it'll take is one breakdown/drive/long score by the other team and that'll be it. Our offense will be absolutely unable to dig out of any kind of hole late in the game.

@Gonzo When literally half your conference is that completely awful and a big chunk of the other division isn’t any good either, I would say your conference sucks.
Hard to be confident when the offense can't get more than 10 points.

Before the Iowa - Wisconsin game yesterday, I read that Iowa punter Tory Taylor averaged 288.2 punting yards per game while Iowa's offense averaged 249.2 yards gained per game. Taylor punted for over 500 yards in the Wisconsin game while the offense went for 237 yards. That is hard to believe! Who knew that punting is winning?
Raygun did!

The best part of this whole discussion will be after USC, Wash, Oregon and UCLA join the Big 10 and Oklahoma and Texas leave the Big 12. Iowa fans will be complaining that Iowa State has an easy conference schedule and Iowa State fans will be defending it.
Stop guys!! I don’t like the points you’re making and you’re hurting my feelings! I can’t argue with them so I’m going change the subject!!

They could, but they probably won't. Iowa will be playing a lot of close games and it is hard to win every close game.
Kirk is just so much better in that situation than any other coach he's going to see other than Rhule but Rhule doesn't have the horses yet...

Doesn't matter, when you play games this close you are bound to get beat sooner than later. It is such a fine line between losing and winning playing this way. If the offense can't find a pulse, they will slip up and lose if not twice.

My other favorite part is that if there's a Big Ten West team outside of the Big Ten West it's Iowa State. They're maybe a little better offensively but it's usually a defensive minded team that plays about 8-9 close games a year.

To prove it still sucks?

B1G 50% of teams .500 or worse out of 14 teams
B12 36% of teams .500 or worse out of 14 teams

What is your point here?

The B1G East is the 2nd best division in CFB according to Sagarin, and there's an argument it's the best division. I don't disagree that the B1G West is warm poop but to try saying the conference as a whole sucks when it has one of, if not the best division in the country, is just nonsense.

We're not going to win out prior to the CCG. People need to get that out of their heads. We will absolutely lose at least 1 of the remaining games, I'd predict @Nebby but any of the others are possibilities. Iowa loses a game virtually every season that nobody sees coming. It will happen.

I would tend to think this is correct. I imagine it will look alot like that Illinois loss last year.

Lol. It has a 3 good teams and then absolutely nothing. It should be name:
Trifecta and Trash.
3 Smokeshows and their side pieces.
3 in the Pink, the rest in the stink.

I can keep going.
