Iowa Beat Writers

I frickin’ should have seen it coming. My god both Travis Hines and Randy Pete said on KXNO that ISU is playing better but “Cincinnati isn’t very good,” but all other guests and host heaping praise on Iowa for beating a bad Wisconsin team as if this Wisconsin team is something special.

Love the responses on this. We were round robin but go hawks somehow thinks that the top teams didn’t play each other somehow.
I thought you were being funny. I guess maybe we're talking 2 different things I meant two of top 4 in terms of playoffs. Not within the conference

When was the last time a B1G championship game winner came out of the West Division (not including the now defunct Leader/Legends divisions)?
Under the current set up, the next time will be the first time. The West division champ has never won the title, in 9 seasons, going back to the three years of Legends and Leaders, the only team to win the title that was on the EIU side was Michigan State. Wisconsin won the title twice, but they were in the other half of the conference.

I thought you meant 2 of the best 4 in the big ten since that is about the only time you have.

Nearly every year ISU has to play a team that makes the playoffs. Iowa craps their pants if they do. They get to play the losers when we had to play the runner up.
Nah, Nebby is championship caliber this year.

Listening to Eickholt on The Drive on Monday....Dave was going on and and one saying things like "guys I have no idea how this is happening. I'm fascinated. I can't even explain it."

Every team Iowa plays is a playoff contender while ISU goes up against teams that are dog sh*t.

That has always been the narrative as long as I can remember.

To add on to that -- which is a bigger win: Iowa State beating Oklahoma State or Iowa beating Wisconsin?

Admittingly I a biased, I would say ISU beating Oklahoma State. Just a week after losing to Ohio. I thought for sure Iowa State would be losing it's third straight game.

The only support with the Iowa win over Wisconsin is Wisconsin has more name cache in Iowa than Oklahoma State. Not saying Wisconsin is any good. The only person that I heard say Wisconsin wasn't good was Trent Condon on KXNO. He said before the game he was talking to some buddies/sports people and they told him Wisconsin is a paper tiger and Iowa will win outright.

I wasn't impressed with Wisconsin a whole lot. Even before their QB got hurt, I wasn't impressed. The only threat they posed to the Iowa defense was Allen and they didn't really use him a whole lot partially because he looked a little banged up.

I didn't realize that Baylor was THAT bad. What happened?

Wisconsin beat a horrible Purdue team, and the entire national narrative shifted to Wisconsin being actually pretty good. They haven't done anything all season, but the national media wants Fickell to be an instant success.
