New Uniforms Revealed

Yes! I remember the AFC/NFC thing with those teams.

Tampa was in AFC West, Seattle in NFC West the first season. Then TB moved to NFC Central, Seattle to AFC West.

I'd have to do research to know why they were aligned in one conference then shifted to the other the following season -- maybe so established teams were more likely to play them (?)

TB didn't have a natural geographic fit until NFL reorganized to the 4-division N/S/E/W format.
Serious Sherlock? Tampa was in the AFC West their first season? Wow.

I'm sure it was just a thing to be tolerated for the first year, to be fixed the next year with 'redistricting'. Interesting though.

Yep!

Tampa had to be placed somewhere, I guess -- in that period NFC West already had Atlanta and New Orleans (expansion teams from late '60s) -- and wasn't going to shift "established" teams like Dallas/St. Louis/Houston to the west.

The divisional alignment in the NFL before 2002 was simply wacky.

Anyways, regarding Seattle and Tampa Bay --

The two played special schedules their first two seasons in the league. The idea was they'd play the other 13 teams in one conference and each other their first year (in this case, Tampa Bay in the AFC and Seattle in the NFC) and then "switch" into their permanent homes the next season but still play the same special schedule (to cover the other conference) so they could play every team in the league their first two seasons.

After that, their special schedules went away and then became part of normal division scheduling.

If anybody was curious how the team is doing in its various looks...

I have this tracked back to 2008, but this analysis starts in 2018 because that was when the current football uniforms were introduced. So think of this as the "möbius strip" uniform numbers era...

So I'll call the Baylor game, c/w/c
The KU game, w/c/w (with the Ames helmet)
BYU, c/w/w
And our good friends, gag, Texass, black rush, b/b/b
Kind of surprised they haven’t used W/C/C more. I like that combo
I agree on the w/c/c combo. I like that one too. I will amend my KU pick: W/C/C with the Ames helmet! The only thing better than that is that we win the game! Of course. [If I'm not mistaken, wasn't one of the 2 times we wore the w/c/c combo, it was against Kansas?]

Remember the first year with Seattle/Tampa Bay, when TB was in the AFC and Seattle was actually in the NFC Central?

Also those unis do carry the 0-16 start legacy of the Bucs, although that doesn’t make them any less cool
I believe they were 0-14, then lost the 1st 14 the following year before winning their final 2 the 1st year of the 16 game schedule. I remember because my Packers were one of their 2 wins year 2.

Correct, it was in Lawrence also because KU wore a throwback or special uni of some kind.

Yes, thank you. And all the more reason to go w/c/c. We haven't done it for a while, the last time was a win, we beat KU with them, and coach is said to be a bit stitious. Haha.

When was the last time we actually wore C/C/C ?

Last year.
