49ers - Brock Purdy - Still and Always #1

NFL Fans React To Brock Purdy Still Having A Roommate - The Spun: What's Trending In The Sports World Today

I know some people are joking about a guy making $870k needing a roommate to help pay rent but he's not crazy for doing so. Guessing he probably has a place fairly close to the stadium too which factors into how much rent they are paying. California cost of living is nuts, had a friend recently move out of San Fransisco because of how expensive it was. His solution to paying rent there was actually buying rental properties back in Iowa and using the revenue from that to help pay the rent he split with roommates. Back in college I dated a girl from California who thought rent here was crazy cheap as you couldn't get a hole in the wall apartment in CA for what you would pay for a nice sized house payment here. Also met a couple while on my honeymoon in 2009 that were from California and that was the time when the housing market had just crashed and they told us they both owned townhomes but if they were to try and sell one they would actually owe the bank quite a bit of money because they wouldn't even be able to sell it for anywhere close to what they still owed on the mortgage.

Obviously if he keeps playing well his big payday will be coming soon and it feels like the 49ers are trying to help him get some supplemental endorsement deals in the meantime too.
I now own a large brand new home and 32 beautiful acres of land for 25% less than what I sold my very small condo in S.F. for. Min affordable living salary I recently read was $135k. As much as my wife wants to move back home to S.F. it just doesn't make sense $$$ wise.

If Lamar Jackson has put up same stats as Purdy through first 4 games, Keyshawn Johnson would be screaming MVP. No one is saying Purdy is MVP at the end of season. Through the first 4 games, he has played better than any QBs in the league. Best QB usually wins MVP so it is not outrageous to say Purdy is the leading MVP candidate through the first 4 games.

And again, he's doing it at less than a million bucks a year. If you can have even marginal QB play for someone as cheap as Brock you take it. If you can get quality QB play while being able to spread money around to some veterans at key spots, you've struck gold.

Exactly. Having a reliable back up QB on a minimum draft salary for the next two seasons is great. Having that guy be a winning starter is like winning the lottery.

Now Brock has made it, breece has one too

I didn’t mind Keyshawn’s comments. It was more, he is good but won’t have the numbers for the VIP season which is likely true.

Montana wasn't a big guy.

He had skinny legs but was a great processor and an accurate thrower. Purdy is great at those too. People talk about him like he's so small.

6'1" 215 lbs. Purdy is roughly the same size as Drew Brees who was also a great processor and accurate thrower. You can play at that size. It's not that bad. People talk about him like he's 5'9" 165 lbs. He's simply not that small. It's ridiculous. He has plenty enough size and strength.

I don't even think Brees is 6 foot.

Purdy’s a little bit taller

Wiki has him listed like this.

Brees = 6'0" 209 lbs.

Purdy = 6'1" 215 lbs.

The idea that he's not big enough to play is laughable.

He has some Brees like qualities. Great processing pre and post snap. Quick decisions, get the ball out quick. Excellent mechanics to throw an accurate catacable ball. Purdy is more athletic running around and slightly bigger. He reminds me of a young Brees. If he can be that good they can win the Super Bowl. Maybe more than 1.

Those are huge shoes to fill. Brees has about every passing record that matters.

Who knows what passing records he will get? It doesn't matter anyway. Just meaning size height and weight, processing, quickly going through reads, making the right decision, getting the ball out quick, timing, great mechanics, throwing with excellent accuracy.

He does remind me of a YOUNG Drew Brees who was not yet prolific in huge yards and TD's at that stage. More mature and veteran Brees put up bigger numbers.

I'm just saying similarities are there. In the way they process and throw with accuracy and make great decisions.

If I could turn back time I would've interviewed hard with some of the big tech firms in Silicon Valley my senior year in Ames and slummed it for a few years with a bunch of roommates then moved back to the Midwest. 9 years into my career and I'm fine but I barely make more than my starting salary would have been at 1 of FANG corps.
