*** Official IOWA STATE vs #14 Oklahoma Game(Day) Thread ***

Not even trying.

Seriously, look what I posted.

That's inexcusable, but we'll still get them from the usual crowd.
The staff is trying we cant afford any of them, also where are we coming up with the 20 mil to let CMC go? I would get off that train unless you can come with the boosters that will front it, hell we cant even squeeze out a million from all of them combined for NIL

How is throwing in a bunch of transfers going to help the problem if they aren't better than what we already have?

How much did Iowa spend on their offense? They still have the worst offense in college football and they spent all that money on a QB who only made it 3 games, a backup TE, and a receiver who still doesn't have a catch the entire year.

I know OU's first TD was on us, but seeing 21 points scored against us in the first quarter reminds me of the bad old days of CPR and the end of the McCarney era. No way we win when any team drops 21 points on us in the first quarter, I turned it off and got caught up on my reading.

Let's put the NIL excuse to bed. The main reason we are 2-3 and not 4-1 isn't because of tight wad fans. It's because a certain coach was too stubborn/scared to open up the offense. We have seen the last two games what that can look like. You do that against Iowa and Ohio the odds are better than even you win both games.

And there is no way ISU is EVER going to compete with the OU's of the world in the pay-to-play market. Legal or otherwise. Never has been.....never will be. But you don't need a trillion dollars to beat the Iowa's and Ohio Bobcats of the world.

We’ve had senior laden teams when we’ve hung with the top teams in the conference. This is a very young team. From what I saw yesterday, I think we’ll get back there when this team gets older. But I think we definitely benefitted from that Covid year with guys sticking around longer than they normally would have. Now, we’re paying the price with an extremely young and inexperienced team.

It's just too bad we were the only P5 team that had to deal with covid roster issues.

I mean sure, but they also lost six starters from the LAST PLACE TEAM IN THE BIG 12. Everyone throws that stat around, but we weren’t the ‘85 Bears last season. If we shouldn’t expect them to get better until next year, that will be two and a half lost seasons in a row when players can only play for four year.

I guess I just don’t really see the same signs of optimism that some here seem to be noticing. I am just bummed this is the state the program is in after a promising start to the decade.

I don’t see any cavalry coming for the O-line.

How do you know this?

How do you know he wouldn't have had bad throws or turnovers under that much pressure and less speed than Becht?

I'd suggest not watching games if it creates so much turmoil for you. It's not healthy.
It doesn’t create a ton of turmoil for me. Under that kind of pressure you can always try throwing the ball away instead of directly into the secondary. Becht needs to learn that you can throw away the football.

A couple of things we did last night that I liked…

They slow trotted subs in on D to slow OU down.

They ran at least 1 really well timed and executed RB screen against a blitz.

They attempted to run to the outside more than usual, at least early.

They played really hard and kept competing.

Gundy’s been showing everybody for years how to do this, yet few coaches have picked up on it. It’s infuriating for the other team, sure, but it’s gamesmanship within the rules, it’s fair game, deal with it. When you run a fast offense like OU does, you gotta squeeze out any opportunity to slow them down. I’m just surprised it’s taken this long for Iowa State to figure it out.

Then, of course, there was the time the Cyclones were trying to send in about 8 defensive subs when OU hadn’t subbed at all, and the Sooners would have snapped it with 16 or 17 Cyclones on the field if Campbell hadn’t called a time out. Baby steps, I guess.

There are no guard rails in the current NIL situation. When there are no guard rails, money rules. That’s a major problem for us.
I mean ohio beat us and looked like they were just legitimately a better team

We're back to ISU just can't compete.

Now people are catching on.

If your opponents are using the transfer portal effectively, and you refuse to?

This will only get worse.

We refuse to or we aren’t able to? The transfer portal is on the fan base now just as much as the coaches. Money drives everything and our fans haven’t shelled out what’s needed to compete in the transfer portal.
