Guess Who Made The List Of Candidates At MSU

I don’t want Matt gone but he has to change and do some thing’s different. That’s my opinion. Maybe Michigan State would give him an opportunity to change his coaching approach to the offense. Which is what we all want here it seams

What do you guys think? Will MSU be able to avoid paying Tucker his remaining 70 million by firing him for cause?

More than likely attorney's will get heavily involved and there will be a "settlement". How likely will MSU be able to completely renege his contract though?

I'm thinking the same (settlement of some sort) will hold true with Fitzgerald's firing for cause (and his 45 mil due) at NW?

[Sorry if already discussed. Just link me to the answer, if so.]
I imagine MSU is going to pay out 10-20mil more to tucker, maybe as high as 30 to get him to go away and to prevent this from getting even uglier. Now will Tucker accept that or fight to the bitter end for it all will be the question.

Yeah, but they have more cash, @FriendlySpartan feeding that pot! Al though my sister in law is an alum and is totally pissed, no money from her for awhile
They get my yearly check but I actually don’t donate directly to the athletic program. I think a lot of donations have been drying up based on the amount of calls I’ve (and many others) have gotten over the last week.

Chizik also already had the Auburn bagman on speed dial so there was no learning curve there. I remember when he tired to talk Pollard into hiring a "religious mentor" for the players.
I don't know about that. It wouldn't surprise if that might have been Pollard's view. Nothing wrong with having a Christian coach though; I think CMC is Catholic, iirc. But I do not believe he wears his religious beliefs on his sleeve. Hard work, good morals and values, yes.

And teamwork, to my last post. You can't be a good coach, and team player, if you are not open to other people's beliefs.

Do you guys even want CMC anymore? Obv the board is not a representation of the overall fandom/alumni but it certainly appears from an outside perspective that people have soured on him a bit.

As long as you can stay above .500 have some 7 to 9 win seasons and make a warm weather bowl every other yr, you can be the ISU FB coach for life.

For me that's what it comes down to. Because the expectations at Sparty aren't insane, you're making probably 1.5-2 million a more yearly at least for a better version of a similar job, are closing to home geographically, etc - there are reasons its an attractive job. There are other reasons its not but its not a bad job at all.
Yeah, they are not going to pay this new coach 9.5 mil/year. But what do I know. I can't believe they signed Tucker for 95 M/10 years. That's a lot of trust.

But, anymore, just pocket change for the B1G and the P2.

I feel Matt would struggle at MSU frankly. If he thinks the big 12 is tough what will he think of: Michigan, PSU and Franklin, and Ryan Day of OSU, I don't see him competing with any of those programs with MSU. Also MSU's ethical history is kind of staggering, and if I'm MSU I probably want a coach who's done it in the Big Ten on some level.

Some of you are seriously underestimating how deep the pockets of these Big Ten teams are. One thing I've learned is that money always talks. MSU would be able to write Campbell a blank check if they really want him.

Unless it’s Heartline you can’t go in conference. Also you need someone who can recruit and cmc doesn’t seem to care too much about recruiting.

MSU is a tougher job in the new Big Ten than Iowa Sta×te is in the new Big 12

Tougher to win a conference title, easier to make the playoffs.

Not sure I agree the ISU job is easier. Is ISU a top 5 job in the new Big 12? Obviously MSU isn't close to a top 5 job in the Big 10, but they'll likely be able to count on 3 or 4 bids for the playoffs. If the Big 12 turns into a 1-2 bid league, finishing with the 3rd best record does them no good.
