Guess Who Made The List Of Candidates At MSU

Much like their conference mates, MSU has an image problem with their recent scandals, so a more strait-laced coach like Campbell would make sense from an image cleanup standpoint. I don't think the fanbase would be happy about it given his recent record, but stranger things have happened (see 5-19 Chizik to Auburn).
I’m not worried about the after effects of Tucker at all. Also this argument held up better before the whole players gambling on their own games thing surfaced.

What are the feelings on the assistant?

I'd guess Tressel would not be a top choice. Bucky fans aren't very happy with him in early returns.
Tressel along with narduzi would be horrible and uninspired choices. Got to do better than that.

I just mean in terms of yeah, they don't have to play those 3 but they might have to see USC, Oregon, etc...

so it hurts in terms of the schedule over all is tougher depending on how it shakes out - they could very well end up getting a schedule that has Michigan, say Wisconsin, USC and Washington and then the next year Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon and Penn State.

So in terms of teams above them, they very well could be seeing 3-4 top tier teams as opposed to 2-3. Not a huge change but still a change.

But I do agree with that its less an issue for Sparty than it is for Iowa
I would be willing to chance future schedules being easier to give up playing Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State every year. Sure, you might get the USC, Oregon, Michigan and Penn State schedule every once in a while, but you also may get Rutgers, Maryland, Nebraska, Purdue, NW, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois the next year.

The question for Campbell is MSU really that much better job than ISU, because it's going to be a lot harder to win in this new B10 than it is to win the new B12. Unless the B10 and SEC are each getting 4 to 5 of the 12 playoff teams per year, I am not sure it is. Access to better recruits, more money, but it could also make it harder to win games.

Who is your dream, realistic choice?
Well dream and realistic are oxymorons but probably Brian Heartline. It’s a dream because he is OSU’s head coach after day gets fired (which is obv a way better job) but it’s realistic because hes not currently a HC.

After that I’ve just been talking myself into Elko as the most realistic option, not the best from a recruiting perspective but he has some good upside.

Maybe you're not, but the average outsider's perception of MSU is pretty negative between Nassar, the string of sexual assault cases under Dantonio, and now Tucker.

What do you think MSU's record is against the West division?

0-3 in 2016
2-1 in 2017
1-2 in 2018
1-2 in 2019
1-1 in 2020 (one cancelled)
2-1 in 2021
2-1 in 2022

9-11 since 2016, but sure they'll be amazing playing the West more often. You can do the same with the rest of the division, none of them have great records against the West division.

The only team with a legitimate gripe in that division has been Penn State. Michigan flat out stunk before 2021 and had just as much trouble beating the West teams as they did the East. OSU beats everyone (except Michigan the last two years)

People forget that in the East while you had to play OSU every year that you also got to play Rutgers every year.
What are you talking about, since Harbaugh got to Michigan in 2015 he has gone, 10-3, 10-3, 8-5,10-3, 9-4, 2-4, 12-2 and 13-1. The man just could not beat Ohio State, but to say they stunk is just not true.

Another thing to consider is that the west coast teams you might get to play at home, and historically they haven’t traveled well (and Vice versa) not saying I’m looking forward to sparty playing them (I’m really excited for the Michigan/west coast games) but it is something to consider. Honestly I look at the division less big ten as a wash from the current east and a major downside for teams in the west.

They should go after Leipold or Kleiman.
I don't think either would be interested. Kleiman has already won a conference title and Leipold is working on building teams capable of doing that in the future. That takes you to the playoffs. I think MSU's road will be much tougher. I just don't think it's really that good of a job. Will be interesting to see who they get.

I just want them both out of the Big 12.

I don’t think the average outsider even is aware of the Dantonio stuff, just like no one brings up Dr Anderson at Michigan, or the the insane **** that’s been going on at Bama/Georgia.

The Nassar stuff I give you 100% and that will never go away. But the rest just really isn’t there. This Tucker thing while it produced 24 hours of outrage really died down once the rest of the reporting came out. Still not good but that one is going to be a footnote at best in a couple years.

Matt really likes the young kids on this team... let's be honest, this team is very young. I could be wrong, but I just don't see Matt going to MSU. I think Matt wants to see these kids through to their senior year, much like he did with Purdy, Kolar Rose, etc,,

If I'm Michigan State I go after Washington's Kalen DeBoer. I double his salary or more (Pocket change for Ishbia & Gilbert) and see if he would take it. He's a Midwest guy. He probably won't leave but never hurts to shoot your shot, just ask Travis Kelce.

Well this would be awesome but I don’t think he leaves Washington, especially with how they are rolling and now that they are in the same conference

It's 100% BS that the Big 12 doesn't recognize the regular season champ.
Nah. That entire winter was fun in the ISR arguing with the trolls who said we didn't win anything because we didn't get a trophy. You know hawk fans and their trophies...
