*** Official Oklahoma State vs IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

As someone who was very critical of the offensive playcalling and scheme for the last two weeks, I really appreciated the playcalling improvements today. I thought we absolutely tried some new things and took some risks and I respect that and know we are a pretty risk-averse staff so it was outside of comfort zones. No clue how many games we end up winning but as long as that team shows up to fight, grow, and take some risks, I'm in for the rest of the year. Go State!
I think it is hard for this staff to play outside of the box. But it is what is needed with this team and OL.

Let's see if the light stays on. I too, liked the play calling, for the most part, and the improvement. The fans really needed this.

Sometimes painful to watch, but a solid win nonetheless. Really like what Becht is doing at QB and the (somewhat) more creative play calling used more field and got our playmakers in space more often. Noel had a huge game. I'm still not a fan of consistently running up the middle as we're not going to have an RB left by the end of the season if we keep doing that. We did that a lot today and our biggest, toughest RB got squashed by a 350 lb dude.

Not sure what we were doing at times defensively today. Guys playing out of position or missing assignments happened way too often today and it cost us points. We did not consistently get pressure on OSU QB most of the day. Thank God for the two picks or this is a different ball game.

Game ball goes to Tyler Perkins #PunterU

It was funny to hear the announcers trash our offensive line every other series.
“I don’t know what you expect the RB to do when you have to dodge or break a tackle 3 yards behind the line of scrimmage”

“Rocco is doing so well with pressure today and getting rid of the football quick because this offensive line isn’t stopping anyone”

Just some of the things said by the announcers during the game lol

My God some of you have to live miserable lives. We got the win and covered the spread. Was it pretty? Nope. Are there things to work on? Yep.

But good lord some of you just go right to negative even in a W. Are there more wins this year? Let’s see. There will be plenty of chances because the conference is not good.

Just fricking enjoy a victory and leave the pissing and moaning until at least tomorrow.

We won so nothing else matters? Ok.

We saw today that the offense can work, but only when we pass first and try and run second. We keep trying to run through a brick wall with our running game, it does not work and never will.
The talent is there in the skilled position to throw the ball, not there in the run game against a stacked box.

Throw the damn ball.

People need to realize the OSU defense is terrible.
I think we all realize that, but this is ISU, we deal with enough misery on a daily basis, when we win, can we at least enjoy it for the rest of today? Of course mistakes were made, of course this wasn’t a top ranked team, but it’s still a win and our O showed a little life. We can get back to hating ourselves tomorrow.

Whatever the opponent, I was pleased to see us play a disciplined game with no turnovers, and minimal penalties. Think that’s being overlooked.

Also glad to see the defense make plays at critical times. Turning the other team over is going to be crucial if we want to keep improving and win more conference games.
