***Official 2023 Chicago Cubs Thread***

Keith Law came up with an acronym for this several years ago: TOOTBLAN (thrown out on the bases like a nincumpoop)

Former Cub who inspired this acronym into existence: Ryan Theriot.

It's been 4 starts. Let's not bury the kid just yet...
I like him. He just has some work to do. My guess is he has a tell on the change up. Looking at the possibilities in the rotation next year. Steele and Taillon are givens. Stroman will likely exercise the extension. Hendricks has a reasonable contract. I believe we'll spend on a top of the rotation guy. That just makes JW a likely candidate to start the season in Des Moines. He's got a lot of years of control so we can start with the vets and see where it goes.

I.... I can't even. There is literally no justifiable reason to start Jared Young over Canario. All I can think of is Ol' Rossy is quiet quitting. I'm also working on a theory that Ross booked a really expensive non-refundable vacation back in June when we were way out of it or something.

That's all I've got.

Ok fine, I'll take the "L" on this one.

Stroman starting tomorrow. Makes me a tad nervous, but lets see how he can end his season. If he ends hot, entirely possible he says his injury was why he was sucking and opts out

Good game for Taillon. 0 Runs, 6 IP, 4 H, 7 K, 4 BB. 101 pitches with 30 in the first inning alone. Just what the team needed.
Taillon was solid and able to work out of a lot of early trouble. I also liked Ross stuck with Smiley for 2 innings. Today's game was a needed break for bullpen.

Didn't realize until looking at box that Hoerner, Happ & Bellinger were 0-9.

I'm sure they're hoping for 3 then Wicks for 3 or 4. Be set up to get 5 next Friday then full go in the wildcard round.

Brewers up 16-0 over Miami in the sixth. Reds/Pirates 3-3 in the sixth. Need the Pirates to pull it out. Need this kind of help.

I figured this was coming since he wasn't used at all the last few nights.
