Niner fans know they can win with different types of QBs. Young was an elite athlete, Montana was a great leader. Not suggesting a comparison to yet. Just saying Joe didn't have a rocket launcher on his shoulder either.
I don't know, I think the angle Milano? took was out of reach for him and the way that Breece was running based on pattern from a tweet I saw, it was a tough block for Wilson. That 83 yard run was more like 100 with the path that Breece took. He reach 20.5 mph and did a wave back and forth. Either way, it was a heck of a run and Breece is a BA. I don't think Wilson was really celebrating that much, I think he was caught a bit off guard.
That’s a good point. He has haters now and hasn’t lost a game. If he throws some picks that lead to a few losses, the haters will come out in full force and some fans will definitely turn on him.
I don't know if it's necessarily haters versus what actually seems like Trey Lance truthers that can't accept the change at QB and be wrong. I still see people on twitter defending Lance and saying he didn't get the best chance and was shown the door too soon and that Kyle slighted him. In all actuality, I don't think Lance is the best fit for Shanahans system and they realized that relatively quickly and said we got our guy lets move on. Clearly even Darnold fits the mold better. Either way, not like we care since Brock is ballin!
What Montana did have was a preternatural sense of football awareness and instincts. Talk about a guy that didn't have to overthink it. Seemed like for Joe the best decisions just happened--every time. If Purdy has even half that, he's gonna be around a long time.
On a related note, do any of you remember the Saturday Night Live skit with Joe where he'd be "upstairs m***erbating?" Comedic perfection.
I agree wholeheartedly but I will give him this: he has seen Breece in practice for a while last year and again this year so he knows Breece's speed and he thought there was no way Breece would get caught. That said, you have to finish the play because you never know what is going to happen.
2022 Draft Scout Christian Benford - CB - Villanova

He's a good athlete who might have gotten a little faster. But Breece would normally run right past him if 100%. Breece's 40 time out of the combine, I think was 4.9 4.39.
Breece also looks a little heavier than last year? He will continue to condition his body back to where it was hopefully. Stay healthy Breece! NFL is a tough place to earn a living.

And Trey Lance could very well wind up being great. The Cowboys got a steal and will have some time to develop him.
But if Dak remains healthy, Trey might not get another chance for a while. It Probably does help the Cowboys in contract negotiations with Dak, upcoming.
More data, really, to just confirm that Brock is a special player.

Trey Lance has always been a very big leap of faith, hopeful diamond in the rough type project but has never actually had sustained playing time or success. The epitome of drafting based on hope rather than accomplishments.

It always amazes me when nfl teams continually do this.
It’s kind of like not drafting Lazard when he failed to meet some dumb speed benchmark. But if you watched for 4 years you could tell he had a good chance in the nfl.
Lazard has mentioned how being a four year starter can hurts your draft stock because scouts will start picking out flaws and ignore consistent productivity Similar thing happened with Purdy. Teams love to draft upside over college production.

Terrell Suggs will always be my GOAT of not having the 40 time but it not mattering with pads on.
One thing the Packers got right was showcasing his blocking ability that was always there in tight and then utilizing him as a reliable possession type.

As a Bears fan...beginning to think JF is capable of falling into the "bust" category....following on the heels of MT Bears gave up the family farm, for both.

How many times have we seen a basketball player dominate the Big 12 and goes undradted or is a 2nd round pick while some guy who averaged 7 points a game is a lottery pick.

While we are on this, can anyone name several NFL QB's who were drafted high, after a limited college career, and didn't live up to the hype? And of those, did any pan out?
I'm drawing a blank. Was one a Browns draftee, before Johnny Manziel?
