I'm assuming this isn't a blanket statement about all packers fans. I don't mind Rodgers. He got us a super bowl. He did well over the years and I liked watching him play. Few gripes here and there about him with his personality/character as well as the GB front office and how they handled several drafts. In the end, I was ok with moving on from him and wanted to see him succeed on the Jets. They became my 2nd team to cheer for with all of the cyclones and packers on there. Unfortunately, it'll be a long road of tough recovery for him at 40. Pat McAffee said he doesn't know the answer, but he thinks Rodgers won't go out like this. I kind of agree. So we'll see.
I’m worried something along these lines will happen with Brock. I mean, it kind of happened here in that people turned on him a little. He can’t burn this bright in the NFL forever and it when it goes south a little, it could get dicey quick.
Niner fans know they can win with different types of QBs. Young was an elite athlete, Montana was a great leader. Not suggesting a comparison to yet. Just saying Joe didn't have a rocket launcher on his shoulder either.
Some of his former Packers teammates had some negative comments about him when they were no longer on the team. It’s not like players are going to publicly say something negative about a current teammate.
What Montana did have was a preternatural sense of football awareness and instincts. Talk about a guy that didn't have to overthink it. Seemed like for Joe the best decisions just happened--every time. If Purdy has even half that, he's gonna be around a long time.
We already know Purdy has unique pocket awareness and uncanny escape ability. He also seems to be seeing the field very well now due to S.F.'s offensive philosophy. Fun stuff for sure.
Good point on the SF system. Walsh's offense was a great fit for Montana. As was having great receivers and backs that caught everything.
Not surprising considering he is coming back from a serious knee injury. He wasn't able to put in as much of the work he would like to in the offseason - or rather he was doing different work. It was pretty clear he started to slow down because of conditioning. He'll get there.
Garrett Wilson also could have helped him out by blocking the last defender rather than celebrating too early.
Montana and P Manning are two perfect examples of being GOAT level good at just doing the QB things perfectly. Of course Brady gets the GOAT title because of wins/SBs, but Montana and Manning were just so naturally gifted in their prime. Manning will forever be my favorite non-ISU player.
I agree wholeheartedly but I will give him this: he has seen Breece in practice for a while last year and again this year so he knows Breece's speed and he thought there was no way Breece would get caught. That said, you have to finish the play because you never know what is going to happen.

I don't think anyone else playing what I would call a significant role. Hummel is on the Rams and Kolar is on the Ravens. Pretty sure Akers isn't around any more.
Akers had a nifty NFL experience, IMO. Many great players don't get that far.

That’s a good point. He has haters now and hasn’t lost a game. If he throws some picks that lead to a few losses, the haters will come out in full force and some fans will definitely turn on him.
A guy I worked with is a big 49ers fan. When they drafted Brock, I told him they just drafted the next Joe Montana. I was far from trying to be prophetic. I simply felt given the chance, Brock would surprise a lot of people. Just didn’t expect it to happen this fast.
